Tr i p le Cree k Connection Get Creative for Arts & Humanities Month At one point in your life, you’ve been touched by the arts. Maybe it was the night you first danced with your sweetheart to a song that, in the moment, seemed entirely too short. Maybe it was when you first saw a painting that truly moved you, or a play that transported you to a different place and time. Maybe it was when you first cracked open what is now your favorite book and felt as if you knew the characters as well as your closest friends. Or maybe it was your first trip to the movie theater or picture show, when the lights dimmed and the characters magically appeared on the screen before your eyes, larger than life and awe-inspiring. 11230 Pippin Road Cincinnati, OH 45231 Phone: 513.851.0601 Fax: 513.851.0602 www.triplecreekretirement.com October 2016 At our campus, we know that many of our fondest memories are tied to the arts in some way. This is why we encourage our residents to revisit the works of art that they remember from their past, whether it’s by listening to songs from days gone by, popping popcorn and enjoying a classic movie, or even grabbing a friend and taking to the dance floor at one of our events. We are always exploring new and exciting ways to keep the arts and the memories that go along with them alive and well at our campus. As firm believers in the benefits of creative exploration, our campus Life Enrichment staff loves coming up with activities that give our residents a chance to tap into their inner artist, musician, poet, and more. Through our Artisans programming, residents have uncovered hidden talents, rekindled past interests, and discovered new hobbies to enjoy. Throughout our campus grounds and on our Facebook and Twitter pages, we’re constantly showing off their latest creations! If you don’t already follow us on Facebook and Twitter, now is the perfect time to start. I don’t know about you, but after the hot and humid summer we had I am ready for beautiful fall weather. With us having so many wonderful things going on at our campus this month, it’s the perfect time to stop by and say hello! I am excited to announce that it’s Theme Week time again at Triple Creek Retirement Community! From October 17th through the 21st, our campus residents and staff members will be celebrating German culture during our Willkommen to Germany Theme Week! Out of all of the fun events that take place at our campus, our Theme Weeks are some of my favorites. From themed activities, fun (and often funny) costumes, and decorations galore, there is something exciting around every corner! We’ll be topping off our Theme Week with a special Residents Themed Dinner on October 20th, and our campus chefs can’t wait to show off more of their culinary talents. Of course we couldn’t forget Trick or Treat. So, dress the kids up, and yourselves too, and join us here at Triple Creek on Thursday, October 27th from 6:00pm7:00pm to go through the main campus as residents hand out tasty treats so they won’t get any tricks! If you can’t stop by, make sure that you check our campus Facebook and Twitter pages for updates and plenty of pictures! If you don’t already follow us on Facebook, simply type Triple Creek Retirement Health Care into the search bar and ‘Like’ our page. If you’re looking for us on Twitter, our handle is @TripleCreek_RC. I’d like to close by thanking everyone who filled out our Customer Satisfaction Survey. Your opinions are truly valued! I’m excited for everything October has in store for our campus, and I look forward to another month of serving our community’s seniors and their families. Have a wonderful October! Valerie Wallen Executive Director Smile of the Month \Mick, volunteer, and Annie, resident, sure bring out the smiles in each other! Out and About We enjoyed two fun and educational days out to the Great Parks of Hamilton County. At Parky’s Farm we enjoyed a hay ride through the woods, fishing, sampling their herb gardens, petting and learning about some animals and a wonderful picnic lunch! At Fernbank Park we packed a picnic and enjoyed watching the boats and barges pass us on the Ohio River. We even had the Park Rangers stop by and chat with us for awhile! Live a Dream During one of ViaQuest Hospice’s visit with our resident, Midge C., she shared her wish to see an Elvis impersonator perform one more time to make her the happiest woman ever! Of course, ViaQuest came to us to see if we could make this happen for Midge and of course it was not only Triple Creek’s pleasure to make it happen but to make it as special as possible! Through our Live A Dream program we were able to make Midge’s dream come true! Midge was treated to a day of beauty and a special new outfit so she would be even more gorgeous for her dream concert! The fabulous Brian Brenner, who performs his Elvis act in Branson, Missouri, gave an outstanding show with all the moves! Midge also received a V.I.P. backstage pass that included a private photo session with The King and a front row seat during the concert where she was serenaded and given a trademark Elvis Purple Scarf and a kiss or two on the cheek! Taste of Town Last month’s Taste of The Town was A Cincinnati tradition and favorite, Graters Ice Cream. Just look at the smiles it brought to Helen, Rose and Agnes. Thank you ViaQuest Hospice for treating all the residents and staff ! Family Night Mark your Calendars for our Annual Tick or Treat Night here at Triple Creek for residents, staff and their families! Thursday, October 27th from 6-7pm. The Life Enrichment Department is accepting donations of bagged candy for this event. ‘Get Creative ’ the 20th.
