P r ai rie L ak e s Press Get Creative for Arts & Humanities Month At one point in your life, you’ve been touched by the arts. Maybe it was the night you first danced with your sweetheart to a song that, in the moment, seemed entirely too short. Maybe it was when you first saw a painting that truly moved you, or a play that transported you to a different place and time. Maybe it was when you first cracked open what is now your favorite book and felt as if you knew the characters as well as your closest friends. Or maybe it was your first trip to the movie theater or picture show, when the lights dimmed and the characters magically appeared on the screen before your eyes, larger than life and awe-inspiring. 9730 Prairie Lakes Blvd E Noblesville, IN 46060 Campus: 317.770.3644 Legacy: 317.219.4383 Fax: 317.770.3650 www.prairielakeshc.com October 2016 At our campus, we know that many of our fondest memories are tied to the arts in some way. This is why we encourage our residents to revisit the works of art that they remember from their past, whether it’s by listening to songs from days gone by, popping popcorn and enjoying a classic movie, or even grabbing a friend and taking to the dance floor at one of our events. We are always exploring new and exciting ways to keep the arts and the memories that go along with them alive and well at our campus. As firm believers in the benefits of creative exploration, our campus Life Enrichment staff loves coming up with activities that give our residents a chance to tap into their inner artist, musician, poet, and more. Through our Artisans programming, residents have uncovered hidden talents, rekindled past interests, and discovered new hobbies to enjoy. Throughout our campus grounds and on our Facebook and Twitter pages, we’re constantly showing off their latest creations! If you don’t already follow us on Facebook and Twitter, now is the perfect time to start. From October 17th through the 21st, we’ll be celebrating German culture during our Willkommen to Germany Theme Week, with a special Themed Dinner on ...continued on back page Out and About Resident Trust As most of you are aware, our Life Enrichment Department provides three van trips per week for our residents. The first trip is for residents at the Legacy. Our next trip is for those who choose to go out to lunch or take a special trip. Our third trip is for a ride around town or through the park etc. If your loved one would enjoy going on one of our outings that requires funds, please make sure they have money is their resident trust. This is done through our business of- fice. Please talk to Sherry. Some of our special outings include… • Mens group with Kirk • Cinema (IMAX) • Bowling Outing • ZOO • Lunch at Hamilton Restaurant Using a resident trust is a good idea also so that we don’t have residents with personal funds in their rooms. If you have suggestions or questions please contact Life Enrichment Director, Nadine Graham, at 770- 3644 or contact by e-mail at Nadine. Graham@PrairieLakeshc.com Executive Director Corner Greetings from Prairie Lakes! I don’t know about you, but after this sweltering summer I am ready for fall. We have a lot of wonderful things going on at our campus this month, which makes it the perfect time to stop by and say hello! I am excited to announce that it’s Theme Week time again at Prairie Lakes From October 17th through the 21st, our campus residents and staff members will be celebrating German culture during our Willkommen to Germany Theme Week! Out of all of the fun events that take place at our campus, our Theme Weeks are some of my favorites. From themed activities, fun (and often funny) costumes, and decorations galore, there is something exciting around every corner! We’ll be topping off our Theme Week with a special Themed Dinner on October 20th, and our campus chefs can’t wait to show off their culinary chops! If you follow us on Facebook and Twitter, you know that our Dining Services Team really pulls out all the stops to wow our residents at this special occasion. If you can’t stop by, make sure that you check our campus Facebook and Twitter pages throughout the week for updates and plenty of pictures! If you don’t already follow us on Facebook, simply type “Prairie Lakes Health Campus” into the search bar and ‘Like’ our page. If you’re looking for us on Twitter, our handle is @PrairieLakes_HC. I’d like to close by thanking everyone who filled out our Customer Satisfaction Survey. Your opinions are truly valued! I’m excited for everything October has in store for our campus, and I look forward to another month of serving our community’s seniors and their families. Have a wonderful October! As Life Enrichment professionals, it is our job to provide meaningful opportunities for engagement for all of our residents. Our calendars and Life Share screens tell you about the dates and times for most of our offerings. We are also aware that although Prairie Lakes has a huge reputation for large events and upbeat programming, we know that these events do not meet the needs of all. It is our privilege and responsibility to provide one on one visits in areas of stated interest to this population. We also strive to provide supplies and encouragement for those residents who prefer self directed activities. If you would like to discuss the specific needs of your loved one, please contact Nadine Graham at 770-3644 or contact at Nadine.Graham@PrairieLakeshc. com As always, thank you for your support of our Activity Program.
