No one is good but God alone. You know the commandments: You shall not kill; you shall not commit adultery; you shall not steal; you shall not bear false witness; you shall not defraud; honor your father and your mother.” He replied and said to him, “Teacher, all of these I have observed from my youth.” Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said to him, “ You are lacking in one thing. Go, sell what you have, and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.” At that statement his face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions. Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!” The disciples were amazed at his words. So Jesus again said to them in reply, “Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for one who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” They were exceedingly astonished and said among themselves, “Then who can be saved?” Jesus looked at them and said, “For human beings it is impossible, but not for God. All things are possible for God.” Peter began to say to him, “We have given up everything and followed you.” Jesus said, “Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the gospel who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age: houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come.” Mark 10:17-30 How much are you willing to give up for the Lord? Saint Peter Church Farmington, NH SR. LUCIE SAYS ST. PETER’S PAGE October 11, 2015 TERRY PIERCE by Family SANCTUARY LAMP MONTH OF OCTOBER IN MEMORY OF TERRY PIERCE BY FAMILY The Gospel Acclamation for this the 28 th Sunday in Ordinary Time is: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Does this mean that all of us have to give up everything as was asked by the man who had many possessions? Not for all, for some yes, but for most of us it means to be satisfied with what we have, to use it wisely, and to give to those who are less fortunate than ourselves rather than always striving for more riches—most of the things which often we do not even use. So let us use what we do have wisely for our good and for the good of all. Remember, we do not always need the newest and the best! Let us look around. Do we have things, for instance, be it clothes or whatever, that others could use or need more than we do? Let’s find them new homes. Sr. Lucie JESUS CHRIST IS CALLING YOU! Are you interested in learning about the Catholic faith? Are you interested in becoming Catholic? Are you curious about who Christ is? Are you searching for a place to call home? Were you baptized Catholic but have not celebrated the sacraments of the Eucharist or Confirmation? Come journey with us on Monday evenings at St. Mary Church at 7:00 pm. If interested, please contact the office at 3321869 or just come. 50/50 WINNER JANE MARCOUX Offertory October 4, 2015 $1,066.00 ST.
