Nova Television
Nova Television was established in 1994. In 2000 it became
100% property of “Antenna Bulgaria”. On July 18, 2003 Nova
Television was granted a license for national airing of the
program of the channel and it became the second private
national TV station in the country.
Among the distinctive features of the channel are: high professionalism, teamwork, innovative approaches, independence
and thoroughness, and balance between information and entertaining programs. The program plan of Nova Television
contains most of all high-rating author shows, hit film series and
programs produced by the channel in genres covering the
whole spectrum of viewers: news, topical and commentary
programs, sport, culture, family and children shows.

The team of Nova Television consists of young and ambitious
people, who have accumulated a ten-year experience on air
and are already contributing to the formation of the second
‘generation’ of television professionals in Bulgaria.
Nova Television is also a pioneer in the realization of high
budget formats in Bulgaria. The game “Who Wants to Be a
Millionaire?” is the most successful television game on Bulgarian air. The high quality of the news and the topical and commentary programs has already become the trademark of the

Solution : Modern TV infrastructure with tapeless system
Nova TV infrastructure was working on an analogue basis. Since its
creation in the early 90’s, the TV channel had not updated its technology.
The TV channel did not have the appropriate material to stand in front of
the European competitors, as a result Nova TV asked BCE not only to
update the technology they were using, but also to find them the best
location to install their new TV channel with the best architectural configuration for a perfect usage of their new installations.

A new building
BCE was in charge of the consultancy to find a new building, as
their new infrastructure aims flexibility and a modern architecture.
BCE was also in charge of the management of the different yard’s
actors (electricians, masons, painters, etc...). The TV channel is
dispatched on three levels, totally networked.

Playout and broadcasting
BCE installed two playout rooms, one for production and another
for news with a direct link to a news room. The tapeless system is
networked between the playout rooms, the broadcast control
room, the broadcast media ingest control and news media ingest
control.

Studios and editing suites
Two studios were created for Nova TV, one for news and another
for productions. Each studio is directly connected to the news and
production master control rooms, allowing live events and a faster
construction of programs via the editing suites.

Team training

A full tapeless system offers a
greater flexibility and reactivity for the
channel. At any moment the team can
introduce last minute videos and special
programs in the video feeds.
Nova TV’s tapeless infrastructure is based
on a complete DV cam system, allowing
easy import and export of their news and
productions. All the work rooms are
networked with this system, boosting
the working speed.
