Welcome to our first newsletter of 2015 – “Concord In Action”.
It’s a new year at Concord and thanks to many of our successful customers, we have a number of
interesting job site stories and great photos of “Concord Concrete Pumps in Action” to share with you.
At Concord we are focused on supplying our customers with not only a cost effective machinery solution
to any Concrete Pumping Application or project imaginable, but also we are fully dedicated to exceptional
after sales support and customer service.
Our door is always open and we invite you to stop by the Concord head office at any time that you may
be in Vancouver, and take a guided tour of our busy facility. What you will experience at the Concord head
office is a modern factory with Concrete Placing Booms and Boom Pumps from 30 meters to 65 meters
both in the build and customer delivery process.
Overall what we provide our customers is a very robust, dependable machine that is extremely Operator
friendly. Our goal unlike Putzmeister and Schwing is to be less dependent on equipment computers and
non-essential sensor technology and more focused of what the guys in the field, “The Operators” need
and what they can repair on their own, or over the phone if necessary and without computers, diagnostic
laptops or service technicians available 24-7.
Since our two largest competitors Putzmeister and Schwing have recently been both bought out by the
Chinese pump companies, our Concord Pump Sales and Customer base has continued to progressively
increase.
Part of the reason that we have become the favorite choice amongst many experience constructors is
because we at Concord have always been willing to work with, and listen to, our customers. We are always
focused on “what are the customer’s needs”, in an every-day in the field reliable, robust and dependable
concrete placing boom or concrete boom pump.

both machine longevity and tougher “Operator
Friendly Machines”. Concord Boom Pumps and
Placing Booms will run easily for more than a
decade in the field every day both in harsh
winter or summer conditions. We are also
focused on increased worker safety and more
operational cost savings for our customers. We
are as a manufacturer extremely cost effective
price wise and will be lower priced in
comparison to our major competitors and
especially the three largest now Chinese
Concrete Pump Brands, Putzmeister, Schwing
and Sany.
This year at Concord we also started our new
Concord, “Special Projects Division” to help our customers with complex applications and access to our
Concord Network and “Global Knowledge Base” used in international pumping applications. When we
talk about special projects and special concrete pumping applications the Trump Tower in Vancouver is a
prime example of how we at Concord, can help our customers with complex cost effective applications.

Concord Special Projects Division
The Trump Tower now in January of 2015 almost 65 stories above
the Vancouver skyline is an interesting concrete pumping
application simply because concrete needed to be pumped
vertically below grade almost 100 feet for the entire substructure.
The site is extremely access restricted on three sides and the only
location for pumping was a 23 foot wide back lane adjacent to the
site. A Concord self-climbing placing boom was the ideal choice
for the project.
The Building Contractor ordered the new 38Z Concord Placing
Boom and also a new 45 meter Concord Boom Pump to service
his other projects. The new Concord 45 meter setup on the “Low
Pressure Side” was successfully used by the contractor for the
first 40 stories of the Trump Tower. CONCORD USED PUMPS
DIVISION supplied a Used 36 Z Placing Boom and a Concord CML100 truck mounted line pump,(shown on the right) to the
customer while the 2014 Concord 38Z and 2014 Concord 45
meter boom pump were being prepared for
delivery. With a challenging straight vertical drop
down to the base of the structure and then across
to the middle of the site before reaching the
placing boom the project posed specialized
difficulties for priming the delivery line and also
during clean out the pumping system after each
pour. Concord’s Kevin Melo & Mark Wilson
oversaw the setup, planning and first test of the
pumping application. Pictured on the right is the
36Z Placing Boom with the Concord CML-100
feeding the vertical drop and delivery system.
Mark designed and built the multi section,
reusable stand pipe concrete delivery system for
the vertical drop. He also developed the concrete
pumping strategy, wrote and tested the blow out,
safety procedures and instructed the contractor’s
onsite staff as to how to safely perform the high
pressure blowdown. He then supervised the
installation of the delivery pipeline system
including the construction of the trust blocks and
training of onsite operators for this complex high
rise placing boom pumping application.

“The challenging part of this application, was blowing the
rapid setting 55-MPA, (8,000 PSI) to 85 MPA (12,300PSI),
concrete out of the excavation and into a Lafarge mixer at
street level almost 100 feet above the concrete placement
point”.
“This was something new for all of us and to the best of our
knowledge, never done before in our industry”. The clean
out required special attention to detail, preparation and
unique procedures. “Our calculations supported the fact
that with just under 120PSI, the right volume of air and
normal concrete conditions we could blow the concrete in
the delivery system vertically to street level.” When
cleaning the Placing Boom and more than 300 feet of below
grade system after every pour of the buildings parking
structures and the complex lower foundation, we
successfully used compressed air pressure and a specially
designed blowout cap to safely blow almost 6,000 pounds
of concrete up almost 10 stories vertically into the back
of a Lafarge concrete mixer for the entire lower structure.
The Core and many of the buildings key structural
components were also poured with Lafarge’s new fast
setting “Chronolia Concrete”. Chronolia is a very difficult
and complex concrete to pump and the Concord 38Z
Placing boom was the only option for its use. Chronolia
has incredible strength and is “extremely rapid setting”
but it can also become unstable due to delivery delays or
unexpected conditions. Any delivery or concrete pumping
issues and the concrete becomes almost instantly unmanageable because it sets up extremely fast. Chronolia
uses advanced chemical technology to achieve incredible
strength within 2-4 hours.
Chronolia Concrete achieves sufficient strength
within 2 hours after placement to support its own
weight, (4 hours after batching), as a result, with
the appropriate checks in place, amazingly,
formwork can be removed.

The Amazing Concord 32 Five Section Z Boom
Since its introduction to the market by Concord the
amazing Concord 32-Z five section boom highly
versatile concrete pump has been a big hit with
both Constructors and Operators. Its incredible
diversity is unsurpassed within the concrete
pumping industry. Not only can this boom unfold
inside most buildings it is also ideally suited for any
type of application where concrete pumping is
somehow hindered by power lines or jobsite
obstacles. Pictured pouring concrete underneath a
structure on the waterfront in Vancouver, the
operator was able to setup the 32 Z and utilize its
boom for columns, slabs, walls and even a long
line job that was 100% inaccessible from the top
of the structure due to pedestrian traffic and the
waterfront location. No matter the tightness of
the concrete pumping application the Concord
32Z is an incredable machine.

New York High Rise Builder Roger & Sons Concrete
Roger & Sons Concrete is well known and respected as one of the top quality builders of high rise

Concord was chosen by Rogers and Sons to provide one of
our innovative 32 Meter Five Section Placing Booms that
was used on both the World Trade Center Tower 4 and then
mounted on a Doka self-climbing system for what is today
the highest residential structure
in the western
hemisphere, 432 Park Avenue.
Working with the Concord 32 Z Placing Boom Roger & Sons
completed
the
250,000-square-foot,
four-level
substructure and the 2.3-million-square-foot, 64-story
concrete superstructure for World Trade Center Tower 4 in
2013. The project consuming more than 115,000 cubic
yards of concrete and 18,000 tons of reinforcing steel
earned Roger & Sons a “Concrete Industry Board 2013
Award of Merit”. The contractor is now
completing work on 432 Park Avenue. The tower
featuring an architectural white concrete exterior,
and at 1400 feet above the New York Skyline is
said to be the tallest residential concrete structure
in the Western Hemisphere and was topped out in
October of 2014.
With an emphasis on both integrity and
relationships, Rogers & Sons maintains a narrowly
focused client list and a strategic short list of
vendors Concord is pleased to have been chose for

About 90% of Roger & Sons work is for repeat

The Concord 65 METER 62 METER and 56 METER class of big boom concrete pumps have become the latest
new boom choices for some of the world’s largest and most successful concrete pumping companies.

The Concord 65 meter boom pump is in a class of its own. Not only is it a truly incredible machine, it is
