Welcome to the Swan Archipelago Regatta Sandhamn, Stockholm August 14–16, 2015 Welcome to the Swan Archipelago Regatta Once again Club Swan Sweden will host the yearly Swan Event and Regatta in Scandinavia. This summer it will take place at the beautiful island of Sandhamn, Swedens sailing hub, at the edge of the Stockholm Archipelago. Here Swan owners will again have the opportunity to meet, socialize, exchange ideas and compete on the blue water outside Sandhamn and appoint the fastest Swan. The traditional regatta dinner will be held at the Seglarhotellet Restaurant. Sandhamn is a historical place situated in the outer archipelago. In the 17th century it became an important place for piloting and custom for boat traffic into Stockholm and houses were built for housing the officials. Agriculture, fishing and hunting were other occupations at that time. A hundred years later it became a popular place for summer vacationers and many of the old houses are still standing. The island has a public road that runs from the harbour to the beach Trouville. Between the old houses and sheds there are only well-trodden steps. With its unique position the island is a paradise to those who want to enjoy a living archipelago with bare rocks and white sandy beaches. Its harbour is full of life with restaurants, bars, hotels and shops. But leaving the harbour area behind, you will find extensive walking paths along the beaches and the windswept pine forest. Sandhamn Marina/Guest Harbor Discover the island for yourself – take a walk along the beach, visit the island’s archipelago museum or challenge your crew to a game of mini-golf. You can also treat yourself to lazy days in the sun on the beach or a relaxing SPA-treatment and later in the evening experience the island’s pulsating nightlife in one of Sandhamn’s many bars. But most of all, Sandhamn is the sailing centre of eastern Sweden and its regatta metropolis. KSSS (Kungliga Svenska Segelsällskapet) founded in 1830, has played a big role here since then and still offers unique possibilities for ocean racing. The best setting for this year Swan Regatta. Public communication, ferry and bus, runs frequently should you or your crew need to arrive from Stockholm or nearby. There are a number of possibilities for sleeping accommodations from B&B to Hotels. Most welcome to this year Swan Event, to join new and old friends in the beautiful surrounding of Sandhamn. //Club Swan Sweden Jan-Olof Ohlander, Kerstin Graffman, Kristoffer Wendelin, Örjan Sjöberg, Mats Bergryd och Wilfred Simonsen Sailing Instructions Sailing instructions for the Swan Archipelago Regatta in Sandhamn, August 15, 2015.
