CV / CVA / CVS-14 CG-47 The USS TICONDEROGA Veterans’ Association JANUARY 2015 NEWS VOLUME 42 NO 1 YOU ARE INVITED PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE GREETINGS SHIPMATES, FRIENDS AND FAMILY, As you read this another year has passed. My wife, Joyce and I hope that all our members and their families had a great holiday season. We also want to wish all a happy and healthy New Year. Most of you all know that reverend Andrew Jensen has been under the weather these past few years and has gone through many treatments to stay well. I spoke to Reverend Jensen asking if we could come up with a new Chaplain, would he like to step down? He thanked me and said it would be fine with him. With the help of our historian, David Graf, we were able to get a new Chaplain from the CG47. His name is Lieutenant Bret Inman and he actually held the rating of Chaplain while assigned to the Ticonderoga. He served on board in the early to mid-90’s as Tico’s first command Chaplain. I want to welcome Chaplain Inman to the Ticonderoga association family. As we go forward into 2015 we are look forward to another good year and the upcoming reunion in Minneapolis during the week of May 14, 2015 – May 18, 2015. John Dupont, Art and Kris Casello, have been working very hard to make this year’s reunion another great success. In ending, please remember our troops who are serving our country at home and abroad. God Bless them and America. Lloyd Frank MEMBERS – we now have CG-47 Christmas Ornaments and are available for all members to buy. As some of you were at the commissioning and at reunions where you got to tour the ship we wanted you to know about this. To order just go to www.bigt.net and click on ship store link. Then click on the color picture of the CG and scroll down to the bottom to see the pictures. If you are not ordering on line then go back and click on the word Cruiser to see the way to pay by check. If by chance you do not see then right click on your mouse and click on reload to refresh your page. We have Association ornaments on the Carrier store link.
