The Main College Bound Program is one of
seven youth programs offered by, Institute
for the Development of African- American

The Main College Bound Program is a
culturally based enrichment program which
consists of three principle workshops:
Roots, Trends, and College Preparatory.
Providing educational enrichment and exposure
and new experiences for youth in and outside of
their community.
 Creating an “I am going to college”, mindset by
introducing our youth to a higher education
setting while providing many practical reasons to
attend.
 Building close partnerships with not only youth
but parents and guardians .
 Encouraging our youth to be motivated while
setting goals to get closer to achieving their
dreams.

The Main College Bound Program offers youth,
ages 10 through 18 years, an opportunity to
explore Multicultural American history,
examine current trends in the urban
community, and engage in activities such as:
Leadership Development, Personal and
Financial Management, and College
Preparation. In addition to the workshops,
participants are invited to attend monthly
educational/cultural field trips.
Offers youth the opportunity to examine the
historical contributions of Multi-ethnic groups
in the development of the United States. This
workshop is designed to increase knowledge
and improve self-esteem by fostering a
stronger sense of cultural pride and identity.
Allows youth to examine contemporary social,
economic and political issues that plague urban
America. Through interactive sessions, role
playing and guest lectures, youth learn
strategies to make themselves less susceptible
to pitfalls in their formative years.
Enhances youth knowledge about the SAT,
financial/scholarship acquisition and the
application process. Moreover, youth learn the
fundamentals of college enrollment and
participation including test-taking strategies
and anxiety management through their
participation in practice test-taking sessions.
