Lanaudière boasts many historical sites where you can discover a part of
our history. Île-des-Moulins in Terrebonne, with its exhibitions and other
presentations, showcases a fascinating pre-industrial 19th century heritage
based on a variety of different mills.

Events
For a really relaxing stay, health and beauty treatments can be enjoyed at many
places, as well as nordic baths, massages and spas.
Hotels
Lanaudière is also well-known for its resort inns (auberges), some built of
log-cabin construction, with their high standards of comfort and typically
warm welcomes. Fine gastronomy is always a feature of these establishments.
Interpretation (heritage)
In fall, the brilliant foliage colours light up the Lanaudière mountainsides.
It’s a wonderful time of year to enjoy a relaxing stay in the countryside.
Museum
In winter, Lanaudière is cloaked in a mantel of snow of excellent quality due to
the altitude. Naturally, winter sports such as snowmobiling, skiing, dogsledding,
sliding and snowshoeing occupy a special place in the hearts of the people
of Lanaudière.
Heritage
And in spring, Lanaudière has the greatest concentration of maple groves
and sugar shacks anywhere in Québec.

Chemin du Roy
La
grande
côte a riverside tour
Historically in Québec, the word “côte” referred to a road
running alongside a body of water. When you follow la côte
in Lanaudière along the banks of the St. Lawrence, you’re
tracing the Chemin du Roy (King’s Road), and taking a journey
through the history of 18th century Québec. You’ll find the old
character-filled houses in Lanaudière’s picturesque villages
utterly charming. It’s a chance to explore the river, as well
as the Saint-Sulpice and Berthier islands. Here you’ll find
vineyards, river cruises and unique flora and fauna. It’s also
a journey to the heart of our culture, as you visit the historic
quarters of towns and cities like Terrebonne, Mascouche and
L’Assomption, with their local culture and well-known historical
sites. This tour is a wonderful blend of nature and history as
you lose yourself in the beauty of the river and its islands,
just a short distance from the metropolis of Montréal.
