Virtual Store Tour
This latest Sobeys West store opened in the Newscastle area of Edmonton
on Friday, June 27th. Opening day was marked with crowds of people,
making it hard to enter the store. !
The store presents an interesting layout. As customers enter the store,
they are presented with a hexagon-shaped ‘perishable market area’ and
each side of the hexagon contains produce, fresh meat, fresh fish, fresh
meats, bakery and a floral section. The deli department is located in the
centre of the hexagon layout. !
Traffic flow within the store is forced one way and customers approach
commercial bakery products and Keurig K-cup coffee packs after leaving
the ‘market’ area. The Sobeys Kitchen is located just outside market area
and serves ready-to-eat lunches and dinners. A freshly made Sushi
counter is also on site. !
Store hours are: Monday to Sunday 7:00am - 11:00 pm
