May Lunch Menu
Can you believe there is only one
month of school left?! This year has
gone by so fast. It has been fun
watching the students change from
the beginning of the year. I am
proud of the growth they have made in their academics, but also as people.
We are ready to announce our new principal for next
year. His name is Mr. Sanders. He has years of experience as an elementary principal, and will be a great
fit for FES! He and I will work together over the next
month to ensure a successful transition into the 201617 school year.
Grades 3-5 have been working diligently on the Forward Exam, which is our state academic test. We appreciate it very much parents having students ready
and in attendance on testing days. These tests show
the growth of students from year to year, and also
represent the growth of our school.
Since the school year will be drawing to a close soon,
I wanted to make sure I thanked all of our volunteers
that help out FES. Whether you were on the 5th
grade Fundraising Committee, classroom helper,
Destination Imagination Advisor, active PTO member
and/or officer, school event volunteers, or helped out
in another way, your hard work and dedication to our
school is greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Mr. Fischer
FES Principal
We would like to thank the
Decker Family for their donation and to help with the
school garden. A huge thank
you to Tracy Peterson, who
offered to donate raised beds to expand
our school garden. Our school garden will
be up soon with the 4K class busy planting
in May!
HELLO FES FAMILIES!
Once again this year our PTO is offering our annual Plant Sale Fundraiser. We are offering the
classic favorites as well as new annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, planters and vegetables! The website is "live" and ready to accept
your orders. Please go
to www.kewaskumplantsale.com to take a look.
We are looking for volunteers to help with unloading the Greenhouse delivery truck, sorting
the orders and helping the customers load their
vehicles. Lunch and beverages will be provided. Please dress for the weather conditions. As
a sign of our gratitude, we will give you a $10 gift
certificate towards your plant sale order for every
2 hours that you help.
Please click here to sign-up to volunteer!
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR
SUPPORTING THE FES PTO!!

and re-started on Monday, August 22, 2016

2016—2017 Student Registration
Student registration for the 2016-17 school year will be completed online this summer. Watch for more information in July.
You will need your Skyward Family Access login and password. If you do not know it, please contact your school secretary for the information.
Lost and Found
Items from the lost and found will be set out on tables during the
last week of school. Students will be asked to check the tables
for any items they may be missing. If any parents would like to
stop in to check the items, you are welcome to. Anything that is
not claimed by the end of the school day on June 3 will be donated to Goodwill.
Medication
If your child has any medication, inhalers, or Epipens at school,
they will be sent home with your child on June 2 or 3. If you are
not comfortable with your child bringing his/her medication
home, please contact the office or stop in to pick it up before
June 3. Thank you.
Yearbooks
Yearbooks will be handed out to students on Thursday, June 2!
Spring Concert
The students and I are very excited to be preparing for our Spring concert, which
will be a Sock Hop Concert! We are all hoping that our audience will enjoy the music and showmanship.
The students and I have discussed costume options, and I have tried to stress that
costumes are encouraged but NOT required.
For boys, jeans and a white T shirt would be perfect, and if students are interested,
they could have hair slicked back, sunglasses, and a leather jacket.
For girls, (option 1) black pants/leggings and a colorful shirt would be fine, scarves
as necklaces or hair
accessories are highly encouraged. For girls, (option 2) poodle skirts would be
fantastic, with a plain T shirt, a blouse, or a cardigan. If you have extras of something, and wouldn't mind sharing, please contact me. I would love to give all students the opportunity to dress up as much as they'd like.
I also would like to take this opportunity to share with you a Youtube playlist I've created with the originals of the concert
tunes. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLF0DZ8mkvCUfqgxhm-eQdSkAsTvMCnZiw
The date of the concert at FES is May 12th at 2:00 and 6:30 pm (preludes beginning at 1:30 and 6:00)
Attendance: There will be two performances of the concert: one at 2:00 and another at 6:30pm. Students are expected
to be lined up and ready to perform at the time of the concert. In order to make this happen, I am asking that students
arrive at the school promptly a half hour before each performance.
Concert Etiquette: Students are expected to show good concert behavior as outlined above and discussed in class.
Again, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at ddolezal@kewaskumschools.org or 262626-8427 ext. 3140 (FES)
Thank you so much for your time!

These are this month’s MVP’s!
They were nominated by their grade level teachers for
showing respect throughout the school.
Way to go!!!!!!!!!
Immunization Reminder Hey 5th Grader!
After you turn 11, you will need a Tdap booster
shot and a 2nd Varicella immunization! Once you
receive them, please provide your school with written verification from your doctor or clinic. If this
occurs over the summer, please send the verification to Kewaskum Middle School at 1676 Reigle
Drive, Kewaskum, WI 53040. Thank you
Manufacturing Field Trip
On Thursday, April 14th, the 3rd graders toured two manufacturing facilities as part of their Economics unit in Social Studies:
Hampel Corp. in Germantown and Palermos in Milwaukee. At
Hampel Corp. they were able to see the manufacturing process
up close and learn about how thermoforming is used to make
things like calf hutches, portable toilets, and the casings for
John Deere products. They also learned about the technology
involved in designing the product and raw materials used to
make the product.
At Palermos they learned about how a small family restaurant
developed into a large company that produces frozen pizzas. We were able to see the production lines and even EAT
some pizza at the end of the tour.
All of this was made possible because of the money we raised
during our popcorn sale back in March (in addition to learning
about supply, demand, and pricing!). Thank you to everyone
who supported our popcorn sale by donating supplies, helping
us pop and sell, and buying our product!
Let’s hear it for Farmington!

Clean Up Day!
May 16
3:00pm—6:00pm
On May 16 from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, we will be having a clean up day
for the district school garden. We will be doing the following.
1. Pull vegetation out of beds and turn the soil in the beds.
2. Lay down cardboard and spread wood chips around beds.
3. Weed strawberry beds.
4. Plant iris bulbs.
5. Mow the grass.
Please come when you can. Any help is greatly appreciated. Please
bring a shovel, rake, garden gloves, and anything else that would help
accomplish the tasks listed above.
THANK YOU from our kids!
The district school garden is located south east of the high school tennis courts. Take the
path on the south side of tennis courts and look to
the south . You can’t miss the garden. Any
questions, please call 262-626-8427 x2323 and
ask for Carol.
