By the time you receive this newsletter I probably will be bald and beardless (that’s if we raised the money we needed). Believe it or not I hope we raised the money because if you saw those Hearts on Fire kids’ smiling faces when we gave them rides you know it’s worth it. I hope that everyone is/was able to enjoy the Colorama ride. Thanks to the Road Captains who spent a lot of time on this and your participation is always appreciated! I would also like to remind everyone that bought a Statewide Poker Run Book that we have a great poker party coming up with lots of cash and prizes at the wonderful Bavarian Inn. The season of riding is coming to an end fast, but this does not mean we don’t have chapter stuff going on. There’s still the Christmas party coming up and we are planning a Cabin Fever Party for next year. Please take the time and send a suggestion to me for next year’s events or just let me know how you liked or did not like something. The suggestion box is available online at our chapter website www.kmchog.com. Thanks to all and remember this chapter would not be what it is without the people that volunteer. Please be safe and let’s have some fun! -Howie Chapter Hotline 414-299-0699 LOH News VA Ride For ‘07 Wheelchair Games Thanks for everyone’s input on how we can increase our membership and some options for group activities in the near future. This, of course, depends on who will step up to the plate and take over as LOH officer. We’ve come a long way, and it will be sad if the LOH doesn’t have a leader to keep it rolling. Please think about becoming the LOH officer. If you have questions on how much time the position entails, or what is all involved, please feel free to contact Carol Martinez or one of the other board members. Thanks Howie for coming and hanging out with Da Girls! You were very helpful and informative! Our next meeting is scheduled for October 11th at Ellen’s house. We’ll be putting together the gift baskets for the women’s shelter and we’ll have some fun doing it, too! We’ll be making pudgie pies at the fire! If you have a special filling you’d like, please be sure to bring it! REMEMBER – these meetings aren’t only for gals that ride their own bikes, but also for passengers as well. All makes and models of cars are welcome! If you need directions to Ellen’s house, call her at 262-662-4994 or 414-322-6465. See you there! The November meeting will be on 11/8 back at Calhoun Station and Dan Merkel will be there to show us how to get the most out of the KMC website. You don’t have to be techno-savvy to enjoy it! Plan ahead for December’s meeting on 12/13. We’re planning on making it a little special visa vi a holiday party. More details to follow, but it will be at Calhoun Station as well. Think Santa. Think about balls in January (bowling) and the return of Cabin Fever for February. There will be more details to follow on those events. TNDRS (Tuesday Night Dinner Rides) Thanks to those of you that attended the September rides, and thanks to the hosts and hostesses – the Shircels and the Rolbieckis. Hope to see you all at the upcoming ride: 10/10 – Carrie & Dewey Hemba – 262-367-4873 CAN TABS – we’re still collecting them! Bring them in – we’ll be dropping off a batch at the Ronald McDonald house after the Children’s Hospital Ride, but we can use more please! Hello Everyone, In June 2007, the paralyzed vets will compete in Milwaukee for the National Wheelchair Games. There are numerous fundraisers in progress and here is one close to our hearts. Summer fun did not end on Labor Day! So, join us for this fundraiser ride on Oct. 15th (rain date Oct. 21st). Staging will be at the Pavilion behind the VA Medical Center on 5000 W. National Avenue from 9am-10:30am. We will then leave for a scenic ride to Holy Hill at 10:30am. At 1pm, we will depart from Holy Hill and ride to Heaven City Restaurant for a delicious pig roast. It’s only $25 per participant whether you decide to ride or just meet up at Heaven City to join in on the fun! To register or for more information, please call Heaven City Restaurant at 262-363-5191. This is for a very good cause and the vets need our help. Hope to see you there. Thank you! -Julie KMC On-Line Suggestion Box Something new has been added to our KMCHOG.COM website, and that’s an “On-Line Suggestion box.” The on-line suggestion box provides a quick and easy way for you to express your thoughts and suggestions to your KMC primary leadership team and board members. Your KMC officers are constantly looking for ways to improve YOUR chapter; but in order to accomplish this; they need to hear from YOU. If you have ideas for something new and different, please let them know! If there is something you don't like regarding KMC, don’t complain to your friends...LET THE LEADERSHIP TEAM KNOW! By the same token, if there is something KMC is doing that you really enjoy, they’d like to know that too! So, please take a few minutes to visit our KMCHOG.COM website and click on the ON-LINE SUGGESTION BOX link, enter your suggestions and comments (good or bad), then click on the SUBMIT button. That’s all that’s to it! Your leadership team is looking forward to hearing from you. -Dan Merkel (KMC Webmaster) THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Before you speak, ask yourself, is it kind, is it necessary, is it true, does it improve on the silence? -Sai Baba REMEMBER THE TROOPS! -Sherry 2 The Statewide Poker Run Ends, The Indoor One Begins! winnings! In fact, the top prize is a $1,000 after hours shopping spree just in time for the holiday season! Draw cards from Hal’s receptionist, MotorClothes, Parts, Sales and Service. Earn a bonus card when you visit Hal’s Speed Shop! Pick up your poker run card today from any one of Hal’s departments, get lucky and win big! We hope you had fun with your Statewide Poker Run Books this year and hit lots of wonderful stops! While this outdoor poker run comes to an end, there’s a new set of cards being dealt at Hal’s. All month long you can get lucky with Hal’s Halloween Indoor Poker Run. This indoor poker run takes place for the entire month of October. Just stop in to Hal’s and play on a daily basis! WIN BIG with a minimum payout of a $10 Hal’s gift card when your poker hand reaches at least one pair. The better the hand, the bigger the this all on my own, but with my limited computer knowledge I am finding it impossible to do! I’ve heard you don’t have to be a computer geek to figure it out, but it would be so wonderful if I could have a couple good people to help get this done! I will provide you with the DVDs to put the pictures on so it will cost you nothing but your time! And, how fun would it be to see some blasts from the past photos, recall some great memories and get a laugh out of how crazy some of us may have looked back then! If you are interested in helping, you can contact me at 414-342-8416 or at harleybabygirl@wi.rr.com. I do have an answering machine in case I am not at home, but I will be waiting for your calls! Thanks in advance! -Roxanne Need Good Hands! A few weekends ago, a big misfortune happened in our neighborhood when a big beautiful house that was being remodeled caught on fire! This sad event made me really think because I have all these pictures & KMC history stored here in my home. We have pictures from 1988 to the present that could never be replaced if God forbid, this ever happened to us! The dream that Kirk and I have is to get all of these pictures onto DVDs that we could archive. This way we’d have a backup of all our history in case anything happened to the photo albums. This is where I need some good helping hands! I need help with getting all these pictures scanned & burned onto DVDs. I thought I would be able to do KMC STATE WIDE POKER RUN PARTY This is just a quick reminder about one of KMC’S largest events of the year. October 14th marks KMC’S Annual State Wide Poker Run Party at the Bavarian Inn in Glendale. The gates open at NOON. We will start drawing Poker Hands at that time, with the last and final hand being drawn at 3:00 pm. The Big Party continues until 5pm! There will be CASH payouts for Poker Hands, lots of Door Prizes and what would a party be without great food? That’s right fuel your stomachs so you have energy to party hearty! So for all of you who bought KMC’S Poker Run Books for 2006, you won’t want miss this great event. We can’t wait to see you there! -Chip Pendleton 3 Biker Down If you know of a member who needs a get-well wish or a mention of condolences, call Carl and Marylin Ganas and let them know. They will make sure a card goes out. KMC wants to let you know we’re thinking about you at a time when those little things mean a lot. Call the Ganas’ at (414) 425-5636.
