BIRCHERMÜESLI Birchermüesli was invented by the Swiss physician and nutritionist Dr Maximilian Oskar Bircher-Benner (1867-1939), a pioneer of organic medicine and wholefoods. Today, there are countless different versions of Birchermüesli. It is a popular breakfast all over the world, also a healthy lunch or dinner. BARBRA STEURI-ALBRECHT DIRECTOR, SWITZERLAND CONVENTION & INCENTIVE BUREAU (SCIB) BIRCHERMÜESLI SERVES 2-3 INGREDIENTS • 6 tbsps oats 1 Mix the oats, yogurt, milk, lemon juice and honey in a bowl. • 3 tbsps milk 2 Fold in 100ml whipped cream, if desired. • 1 lemon, juice only 3 Grate the apples and add to the mixture immediately. 4 Add the nuts and any other seasonal fruits. • 180g plain yogurt • 2-3 tbsps of honey or sugar • 2 apples • 2-3 tbsps ground hazelnuts or almonds, or finely chopped walnuts, if desired • 100ml whipped cream, if your day contains physical work ORIGIN ZURICH, SWITZERLAND Tip: Enjoy with a slice of fresh brown bread.
