This program is another way to help recognize and promote the exceptional services of our Industry Partners. Members who support the chapter’s Industry Partners (IP) through requests for bids, quotes or actual work on their properties will be entered into a drawing. The up-to-date Industry Partner Directory is located on pages 11-13 of this newsletter as well as on the chapter website at www. iremmi5.org. Industry Partners must notify the chapter of their contact with the member and for the service(s) requested by emailing info@ iremmi5.org. A random drawing will take place at the Chapter’s Annual Inaugural on December 6, 2013 and the winner will be awarded the Grand Prize of a $500 Gift Card. The more entries you have the better chance of winning! Your IREM chapter continually encourages members to call on all of the Industry Partners when they need a quote for services. UPCOMING WEBINARS FROM IREM: YOUR CAREER PARTNER The third in a series on leadership, this webinar will explain how property managers can become effective communicators and better leaders. Join Ron Gjerde, IREM Vice President, Knowledge Center, as he discusses: • The three basic rules for making any communication more effective • How to craft the message to achieve your communication objectives • Communication barriers to avoid AUGUST 2013 As a result, the same message can have a different meaning to different people. Have you ever sat in a meeting and then talked to someone afterwards who had an entirely different interpretation of what happened in the same meeting? The average building in the United States is over forty years old and is less than 50,000 square feet. While many newer, larger, upscale buildings have made recent strides to improve efficiency in recent years, the biggest opportunities lie in smaller buildings. 9 Leadership Development - Effective Communication Date: Wednesday, August 14, 2013 Time: 3:00 p.m. ET Duration: 60 minutes Price: Free to members; $35 non-members Property Types: All The most common competency listed for virtually all job descriptions is good communication. It’s not surprising, then, to find that is was ranked the second most important competency for real estate management professionals. While the ability to effectively communicate with others is critically important, it is one of the toughest skills to master—especially since the meaning of any communication is determined by the person receiving it and not the person giving it.
