The Meals on Wheels Volunteer Appreciation BBQ, held
on June 11, 2015, was a huge success. Over 200
volunteers and staff celebrated the loving and caring
work accomplished by our volunteers. Meals on Wheels
is very fortunate to have an amazing team of over 400
volunteers. We value each and every one of our
volunteers and the unique skills and personalities that
they all bring to us, whether they are with us a few hours
a year or several hours a week. In 2014 our volunteers
served over 28.00 hours preparing food in our
commissary, delivering meals to homebound clients,
assisting in our offices, pitching in at special events, and
spending time with seniors in our centers.

All of the Meals on Wheels five senior centers enjoyed a
boat trip on the Pride of the Hudson during the month of
June. Our seniors enjoyed sunny skies and beautiful
breezes as they took a two-hour tour on the Hudson.
Leaving Newburgh, the boat sailed by West Point,
Bannerman Castle and other points of interest while
seniors enjoyed the sights and a delicious boxed lunch. A
good time was had by all!

Volunteer Spotlight: Judy
Motz
Judy Motz volunteers regularly for
Meals on Wheels - helping in our
administrative offices, at our Golf
Outing and the Bill Fortune Run
and even serving soup at our
monthly Ladles of Love
program. Judy says she has
"become part of the Meals on
Wheels family," and we agree!
The excitement mounted this past June 4th as the five
agency senior centers held their annual Wii Bowling
Tournament at the North Rockland Senior Center in West
Haverstraw. Each of the five centers sent their top four
players in what turned out to be a highly competitive
tournament. All centers put their best foot (and arm!)
forward as they pursued the coveted title of 2015
Champions, but in the end the Clarkstown/Pearl River
Senior Center team pictured above was
victorious. Seniors: start practicing now as the 2016
tournament is guaranteed
to be just as much fun as this year's!
