2815 Bammel Lane Houston, Texas 77098 713.522.9704 (phone) Weekdays 9:30 am to 5:00 pm Saturday 9:30 am to 3 pm From Nancy…… Autumn 2016 Dear Stitchers, Fall is in the air and we are busy, busy at Needle House! I have just returned from the New York Gift Market and expect many wonderful treats to be arriving very soon! Of course, I have our fun Toss Grab Bags coming in new patterns and options ~ they seem to be perfect for stitching projects and so much more! I am also excited about some tiny beaded trees that you can use when decorating your mantel or table with your fabulous needlepoint displays! You may want to add a few of the darling felted animal ornaments that we have ordered to your tree or holiday packages. They are sold individually, however, they are cleverly themed as sets ~ you will want more than one once you see them! I am off to Dallas next week to a smaller needlepoint market to see the late summer releases and I will be buying many canvasses to fill up our walls for the holiday season. I cant wait to see what new things our talented artists have to offer! I am excited to have my friend and fellow teacher, Patricia Sone coming to Needle House to teach Melissa’s Red Bird Santa in October. He is beautiful and her class will be such a fun event for us! (Details in this newsletter) Thank you so much for your generous response to our newest Santa Series, “Look Who is Coming to Town”. I am working hard to create interesting, yet doable, stitches and patterns for my series and having great fun in the process! We have three back from the finisher, so please stop in to see them! So many things happening at Needle House that I want to share with you so, please come by soon! Happy Stitching, Love You More TRUNK SHOWS December 3 -17 Needle House welcomes this new line of beautiful laying tools handmade from authentic, naturally shed, African porcupine quills. (Don’t worry, no porcupines were injured in the making of these gorgeous stitching tools!). If you have not tried one, you will find that a laying tool helps you keep stranded threads smooth and helps flat threads behave themselves! The addition of vintage beads atop these smooth quills creates a lovely laying tool for your smooth stitching! Needle House Annual Stocking Show October 15 - 29 This is it! Your perfect opportunity to see a wealth of artist’s Christmas stockings, just in time to begin a stocking for next year. We have all of our favorites represented at this annual Needle House tradition. Melissa Shirley, Rebecca Wood, A Collection of Designs, Alexa, and Strictly Christmas ~ just to name a few! Join us for this Ho-Ho-Holiday event! *We are hosting the Stocking Show during the Holiday Shopping Card this year, so don’t miss the opportunity to save even more for a worthy cause! Please enjoy a 15% Trunk Show Discount Exciting times on Bammel Lane, lots of changes at Needle House. Thank you all for your concern for Needle House’s relocation due to the high rise development that will be replacing The Gardens of Bammel Lane. While progress is often paired with challenge, we are excited to meet the challenge of a new location. Details will be revealed soon, and you might expect a bonus in the process! Be assured that Needle House will be available to our wonderful customers for a long time to come ~ after all, there are simply too many canvasses we still want to stitch and threads that we want to try! We will be in touch soon with details of our new spot! October 20th - 30th Needle House is pleased to be participating in the 2016 Holiday Shopping Card presented by VICTORY, a division of the American Cancer Society. VICTORY donates the proceeds of all sales to the efforts of the American Cancer Society to fund research and treatment for cancer. You may use the Holiday Shopping Card to receive a 20% discount on all of your in stock purchases at Needle House. This year, we have planned our Stocking Show at the same time! You may also purchase your Holiday Shopping Card on your next visit to Needle House! Don’t forget to pick one up to use at over 700 participating retailers! Ann Kelly’s Basketweave Class Join Ann Kelly for her technique class on the basketweave stitch. This class is for the new or seasoned needlepoint student as it is a great basic to learn as well as an incredible refresher for all of us to be reminded of the secrets and tips for proper basketweave, tent stitch, and continental application for our needlepoint. Ann Kelly’s 2 hour class is packed with hints, tips and technique. Call Needle House for time and date details. Patricia Sone at Needle House! While it is featured in a book dedicated to backgrounds, it can used in so many more places. Creating a layered detail, this stitch can be worked in two threads, but it is a most effective element using one thread as well. Look for a spot on your current canvas to incorporate boxed diamond eyelet and we think you will be pleased with the interesting detail that it creates. June’s book, More Backgrounds for Needlepoint, is plentiful with ideas and stitches that you will love using. As Nancy did, you will find yourself using these stitches in many places besides background areas.
