Exhibition The memory of our recent past in cartoons 08:00 UPV/EHU library. Leioa TIRA-BIRAK EXPOSITION Free Tira-birak shows the formal evolution and content of cartoons from the late seventies up until today. A route that will serve to remind and tell us about the social and political climate which led to these cartoon strips. Iturriak / Fountains 09:00 Ondarreta gardens ITURRIAK / FUENTES Free INSTALLATION Iturriak/Fountains is the public art installation by artist Maider López that is located in the Ondarreta gardens until 31st October. A project from the quay Pagadi, it consists of the recovery of fountains that were removed from the city in the last 25 years, with the intention of regaining the memory of these places. The Lizard Trail 09:00 Asteasu CONVERSATIONS WALK Free The Lizard’s Trail is a tour of Bernardo Atxaga’s birthplace that takes us to the imaginary land of Obaba, to explore, step by step, the writer’s literary work and the landscape of Asteasu. During the tour, several panels and audio recordings (audios available in Basque, Spanish and English) accompany visitors with explanations on texts, characters and places in the author’s literary work. Women and the sea 10:00 Shipping Museum CONVERSATIONS 3€ EXHIBITION This temporary exhibition shows to the general public the link women have had with the sea throughout history without forgetting the place occupied since ancient times in the imagination and mythology of the sea world. It attempts to present histories of people and places, to create the actual relations between people from two countries with different history, that in some aspects might find similarities and mutual inspirations. Balenciaga, Master of Lace 10:00 Crist?bal Balenciaga Museoa CONVERSATIONS EXHIBITION 10 / 7 € Lace, a fabric with a long historical tradition and associated to the most powerful classes until its mechanisation, is the perfect example to show how Balenciaga's creativity and industrial technology can join forces to extol a material creating new applications and even revolutionary silhouettes. The project tackles HIV/AIDS not only as a medical epidemic, but also as a change of visual, affective and economic paradigm.
