Build Your Network Southern Style Savannah, Georgia • November 9-12 Programs and Events to Foster Networking State of the Industry & Economic Forecast Keynote Speaker, Leigh Anne Tuohy Economic Overview, Donald Broughton Used Truck Workshops Annual John Gresley Golf Tournament Special Tours and Guest Activities Vendor Expo with over 50 Vendors Awards Dinner Welcome Reception, Wednesday Evening Let the festivities begin! Join fellow attendees on the Harbor River Lawn at the opening reception to catch up with old friends and meet new faces. Silent Auction The Silent Auction will be held during registration hours on Wednesday and Thursday. The auction helps raise money for the UTA Jerome Nerman Family Foundation Scholarships, which are awarded to deserving students nominated by UTA members. Please come bid on a variety of great items donated by vendors and support the scholarship fund. Workshops, Thursday 1:00 - 3:30 pm Workshop #1 Auctions • If you have not used auctions as a tool for your business you don’t want to miss this workshop. A panel of our UTA Auction Vendors will be speaking on the attributes of using an auction to increase your income. Learn about different types of Auctions (absolute/non-absolute, salvage, online, traditional and public). Learn how to use Auctions as a remarketing tool for acquisitions, learn about national values and how acquisitions are an effective way to network with other buyers and sellers. Ending with a Q and A for the panel, this will be well worth 45 minutes of your time. Workshop #2 Social Media • There was a time that social media like, FaceBook, LinkedIn and Twitter would not yield many direct truck sales. That is no longer the case. If you are not using Social Media to increase your customer base you are losing out on some very inexpensive but potent advertising. Carmenda Laymon from Coastal Direct, LLC is a well-known expert on Social Media and we are fortunate to have her as a UTA Member. Many of us started our journey with Social Media because of her professional advice. She has some great tricks of the trade to show us. Not only does she know her “stuff,” she is also a fantastic presenter. Don’t miss this workshop. Workshop #3 Networking/Laboratory • OK, the results are in from last year’s Networking session in Texas. Everyone who was there got a lot out of it and those who did not attend missed out. It has been said that over 100 units were bought and sold during those 45 minutes. Countless new relationships were also made. It is important to go to the convention and see all the people you already know. Creating new relationships while at the convention is just as important, but can also be a more difficult task. This workshop puts you at the same table with buyers and sellers you have not met. This is how you pay for your trip to Savannah. Take advantage of this workshop. Vendor Expo, Thursday 4:00 - 8:00 pm The Expo starts early and ends early to allow exhibitors the opportunity to spend time with special customers after the event wraps up. We are again featuring the Best at Expo Award where the attendees voted for the best booth. The award is presented at the Friday Awards Dinner. Make sure to grab your Vendor Map at the Expo entrance and cast your vote! We will have the return of the Expo Selfie Contest! Attendees take pictures of themselves with various vendors, email them to a specified address and be entered into a drawing to win up to $300. Door prizes, Silent Auction winners, and all announcements will be posted on a video monitor located at the UTA booth. 2 Grand Finale! Friday Night Awards Dinner & Dance In view of the great response to the agenda last year we will once again present some of the other awards on different days, so we can focus on the fine dining, announcements of your new board members, and the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. Our Keynote Speaker, Leigh Anne Tuohy The real life mother of football star Michael Oher, played by Sandra Bullock in the movie The Blind Side We’re pleased to announce that Leigh Anne Tuohy will be the Keynote Speaker at the UTA’s 17th annual convention, to be held November 9-11 in Savannah, Georgia. Most people know Leigh Anne through the blockbuster movie, The Blind Side, and the best-selling book of the same name written by Michael Lewis. Leigh Anne’s inspirational story tells about her family’s devotion to adopting future NFL star Michael Oher when he was a teenager in need of a family. In February 2013, Leigh Anne and her husband Sean proudly sat with their other children, daughter Collins and son Sean, Jr. at the sidelines and cheered for their son Michael. He was playing for the Baltimore Ravens in his first Super Bowl victory. Now, Michael is an offensive tackle with the NFL’s Carolina Panthers. When Leigh Anne and Sean welcomed Michael as their son it had a profound impact on the entire Tuohy family. “He had a much greater impact on our lives than we did on his life,” she recalls. Today, Leigh Anne is a successful author and inspirational speaker in her own right. One of the country’s most sought-after motivational speakers, Leigh Anne has given lectures to a broad range of audiences from religious groups, to town halls, to some of the country’s largest corporations. Her most recent book, Turn Around: Reach Out, Give Back, and Get Moving, challenges readers to rethink what giving really means. In a five-day-per-week devotional, using scripture, she encourages readers to think about helping others within their own communities. She consistently inspires others to see the best in everyone, especially individuals often deemed valueless in their own communities. Leigh Anne is a dynamic speaker with a fascinating point of view, and the UTA is thrilled to announce that she will speak at our convention. The UTA’s core values closely align with those of Leigh Anne and her family in the areas of networking, fostering education and knowledge, mentoring, and social leadership. This makes Leigh Anne a great Keynote Speaker choice to address an anticipated group of almost 900 UTA members and their guests. In short, you don’t want to miss this year’s UTA Convention.
