Geberit Pluvia Syphonic roof drainage system
Geberit Pluvia Syphonic roof drainage system Stands up to every kind of rainfall What is Pluvia? Geberit Pluvia is a roof drainage system based on an intelligent negative pressure suction system. In contrast to conventional drainage systems, Geberit Pluvia offers solutions for the architecture of today. The high-performance Geberit Pluvia roof outlets are linked together directly under the roof with a non-sloping collector pipe. Large roof areas can thus be drained through a single discharge stack. This simplifies planning and reduces construction time. Cost-intensive discharge stacks and drains are dispensed with, multiplying both the planning options available to the architect and the potential uses for the building. Pluvia roof outlet 2 Conventional drainage Geberit Pluvia System systems Whether it be 1000 m2 or 100,000 m2 – Geberit Pluvia is always the suitable system The technical principle and the high drainage rate of Geberit Pluvia ensure that the system can be used in a wide range of applications. Installation is possible in both cold and warm roofs. Inverted roofs and different kinds of sloping collector pipes no slope in pipework required greened roof surfaces – whether ex- many discharge stacks less downpipes tensively or intensively greened – can many roof outlets only a few roof outlets be drained with Geberit Pluvia. long ground pipe short ground pipe complex drain system low-cost installation cost-intensive installation many structural design options limited structural design options reduced pipe dimensions 3 How does Pluvia function? Geberit Pluvia negative pressure suction system: fast, clean and inexpensive Unlike conventional roof drainage methods, the Geberit Pluvia roof drainage system functions as a syphonic system, as shown in simplified form in Illustration 1. The pipeline system fills up completely as rapidly as possible, thanks to the correct pipeline dimensioning and arrangement of the Geberit Pluvia roof outlets, thus generating a negative pressure in the pipeline. This negative pressure in the pipe rapidly withdraws the rainwater by suction (Ill. 2), instead of merely allowing it to drain away, and also ensures an improved self-cleaning function. Ill. 1 Ill. 1 4 Ill. 2 The advantages of Geberit Pluvia Less planning effort, fewer discharge stacks and roof outlets Geberit Pluvia simplifies building planning and permits optimum space utilisation. A diminished need for discharge stacks reduces outlay for underground drain connections and surface lines as well as the costs for the property developer. A Geberit Pluvia installation is less expensive than a conventional roof drainage system. Double the amount of rainwater discharge at half the pipe diameter The Geberit Pluvia roof drainage system has been setting new standards for decades and demonstrates its performance capability in important flat-roof constructions at many prominent industrial companies. Geberit's more than 30 years of experience guarantees the building operator high reliability and HDPE drainage programme outstanding durability. Geberit Pluvia reduces discharge stacks and roof outlets, thus providing the architect with considerably greater flexibility in the planning of the building, in the utilisation of space and in the co-ordination of different building trade requirements. The corresponding Geberit HDPE drainage system Geberit Pluvia and Geberit HDPE complement one another seamlessly to produce a complete roof drainage system. In view of the fact that high levels of negative pressures can arise in connection with the use of the negative pressure drainage system on large roof surfaces, the connection between the individual components takes on special significance. The possibility of leakage can be virtually ruled out, thanks to the lengthways non-positive connection that arises from the welding of the shaped parts with the pipes. 5 Applications and planning for Geberit Pluvia The Geberit consultants have received optimum training in Key features of the Pluvia Modules: the Pluvia System and also offer world-wide support for the isometric presentation planning and design of Pluvia installations. assistant for determining the required quantity roof outlets Geberit ProPlanner (Pluvia Module): navigation assistant Take advantage of Geberit's many years experience in the editable hydraulics list field of negative-pressure roof drainage. fire prevention provisions acoustic insulation The Geberit ProPlanner Pluvia Module supports planners quotation and calculation lists in the designing of optimum negative pressure systems. lists of materials Utilising Geberit's extensive experience in rainwater drainage, hydraulics lists the Pluvia Module automatically calculates the dimensions of the negative pressure system, the distribution of the roof outlets, the precise fastening points and a dimension export with all of the required components. This means that the planner obtains an extremely reliable calculation of the roof drainage, which translates into planning security and the optimisation of costs for the entire system. The calculation integrated in the Pluvia Module always works in accordance with the principle of economic efficiency. The ProPlanner Pluvia Module offers the planner the possibility of viewing the installation in an isometric presentation, which provides an opportunity for taking better account of specific building characteristics. Over 70,000 projects have been carried out during more than 30 years of experience in everyday practice, during the course of which more than 120,000,000 square metres of roof surface have been fitted with more than 750,000 Pluvia outlets. 6 Geberit Pluvia – extracting water from flat roofs instead of leaving them to drain ■ Hydraulically calculated: negative pressure extraction of the rainwater (with Geberit Pluvia roof outlets) ■ Small pipe diameter, large self-cleaning effect, maximum flow capacity ■ Cost-cutting, due to fewer stacks, fewer drains and fewer channel connections ■ Also suitable for lightweight roofs and the most diverse warm, cold and inverted roofs ■ Possible to preinstall the pipe system on the floor ■ Routing without slope ■ Patented fastening system: efficient installation of individual system sections ■ Minimum number of fastening points ■ Top speed: Geberit HDPE branch discharge pipes can be easily connected to the Geberit Pluvia roof outlets using Geberit PluviaConnect ■ Top safety: completely welded system, from the roof outlet to the drain ■ Low system weight ■ Planning service: calculation isometry, wiring diagram, pipe dimensioning, material list, list of services ■ Planning support for pipe dimensioning sales@geberit.com www.international.geberit.com int.e 21008-08/25 Geberit International Sales AG Neue Jonastrasse 59 CH-8640 Rapperswil
