What is the Tilford Environmental Playscheme? It’s a two-week play scheme which runs during the summer school holidays. A non-profit initiative organised by a committee of local mums, the Playscheme is now in its 18th year. The Playscheme aims to be a safe and fun experience for children with high quality care. Visiting specialists, sports activities and craft sessions make for a range of stimulating days, which are often inspired by an environmental theme. ! ! Organising(Committee(2014( ! DBS-checked play-workers all of whom have experience of working with children. The ratio of staff to children is above Social Services guidelines. Our Playscheme Supervisor is Mel Jackson, a highly experienced primary school teacher who lives and works locally. Who is the Playscheme for? Activities are designed for children aged 5 to 10. Maximum capacity is 35 children for each session. Where is the Playscheme held? The Playscheme is based at the Tilford Institute (overlooking the village green). Facilities include two halls, a large outside play area and use of the adjacent school playing field. The Ranger Days and Forest Fun session are held in the woods behind the Tilford Institute, although children should be brought to the Institute prior to these sessions as normal. What are the times of the sessions? Morning sessions 9.00am – 12.30pm Afternoon sessions 1.30pm – 5.00pm ! ! ! Find us on Facebook ! ( Children attending both sessions will be supervised over lunch. How much does the Playscheme cost? Half-day session: £11.00 per child Full day session: £22.00* per child What do you need to bring to the Playscheme? Children should bring a water bottle & a snack for half-day sessions and a packed lunch with a separate drink (all named) if staying all day**. Clothes should be suitable for messy play and outdoor activities and include a hat and sun cream for hot weather (all named please). For Ranger Days and the Forest Fun sessions, please ensure that children are in suitable footwear (trainers) and have applied insect repellent. Outdoor activities are weather dependent. From here you’ll be directed to a secure, third-party booking system***. Places are allocated on a firstcome, first-served basis and we recommend you book early to avoid disappointment. NOTE – NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN. NO EXCHANGES WILL BE FACILITATED. Booking opens on Saturday 17th May *There is an additional £3 charge for the Ranger Day to cover the extra costs incurred by providing this activity. Concessions are available at £7.50 per child per session for families claiming Income Support (proof will be required). **No lunch will be needed on the Little Chefs day as the children will be eating the food that they have made. ***Please note there is a maximum 10% booking fee. Whizz Bang Pop! A fizzy, colourful day of science fun! Make a rocket, kite or paper aeroplane. Create magic, bubbly, foaming or marble-effect paintings. Make your own stretchy slimy goo. Have some fun with balloons, watch them self-inflate and whizz around! ! WEDNESDAY 30TH JULY THURSDAY 31ST JULY FRIDAY 1ST AUGUST ! ! ! www.tilfordplayscheme.org! Little Chefs Ranger Day Go Create! Join us for a day in Brazil, make yourself a carnival headdress or design your own Havaianas (flip-flops). Limber up to a samba beat and try your hand at making music Brazilian-style. Develop those world-class football skills and build up an appetite to sample a Brazilian delicacy or two. Pull on your chef hats, grab your mixing bowls and get cooking (and eating!) a traditional afternoon tea with the team from Crafty Chefs. Naughty but nice! The children will be eating their own creations for lunch. Brazil Day ! Are you a budding Ray Mears? An explorer in the making? Learn how to survive in the woods, make a shelter, track animals, build a fire. Join the rangers from Surrey Wildlife Trust for some serious woodland fun. Get crafty with a junk modelling challenge, construct some papercraft animals, or how about a papier-mâché hotair balloon? Create your own personalised “Wanted” poster. ! Fit is Fun Time to get sporty with Michelle from Fit is Fun. Test your ball skills, get running and enjoy lots of fitness games and challenges.( ! ! MONDAY 4TH AUGUST ! ! 9am – 12.30pm! TUESDAY 5TH AUGUST Arty Party Drama Jurassic Fantastic Get hands on with fossils and try making your own with Haslemere Museum. Take part in a dinosaur bone hunt and make the biggest dinosaur skeleton. ! Time to let your creative juices flow! Get jamming with the Rock and Pop Foundation. Get moving with Farnham Zumba. And get dramatic with our “play in a day”. ! WEDNESDAY 6TH AUGUST ! ! FRIDAY 8TH AUGUST Camelot Adventure Ranger Day Animal Magic Come Knights and Ladies and defend the castle from enemy attack! Design coats of arms and make crowns and swords. Farnham Museum will show you how. Are you a budding Ray Mears? An explorer in the making? Join us for some animal fun, hunting mini-beasts, making ladybird biscuits and lots of animal games. Then meet Hydestile Animal Hospital’s naughtiest residents and get the lowdown on caring for our animal friends, at home and in the wild. Forest Fun ! Another chance for all budding forest rangers to hone their survival skills and enjoy some woodland adventures with Zoe from Forest Fun. ( 1.30pm – 5pm THURSDAY 7TH AUGUST ! !!
