Sadly we had to say goodbye to Marie who had been our manager for the past 3 years. She is sorely missed by relatives, residents and staff – we all wish her well. However we welcome Ellen who has many years of experience and we trust we will have many happy years under her leadership. Thought for the Day “A smile is a curve that sets everything straight.” September 2012 RESIDENTS BIRTHDAYS During the next few months we will be celebrating the Birthdays of the following residents: The jubilee was cause for many get togethers, we all enjoyed a cream tea along with a Royal Quiz. A great time was had by all. November Marion – 5th Daisy – 17th Remember if there is anything the staff here at Tilford can do to make your relative’s birthday that extra bit special just ask and we will do our best to oblige. SOCIAL ACTIVITIES The parachute proved to be a great hit with the residents. We did try keep the ball away from Dalla but she was just too good and kept catching it! Visitors enjoying their cream teas Debbie has now taken over from Gill in our Music for Health sessions. She has made a good start and our sessions are as enjoyable as ever. Great fun was had waving ‘bits of non-sense’ around – the usual music for health session. Dalla working her magic with the ball! Victor Munro has always taken requests and he has now started to include duets into his sessions. On the lastest visit he dueted with Peter to Cliff Richards ‘ Summer Holidays’ twice!! Residents enjoying Music for Health Victor and Peter dueting Staff saying goodbye to Marie, we wish her all the best! Farewell presentation for Marie Rhonda from ‘Able Classes’ joined us again in July and as usual she pushed our brain power. Everyone did rather well and proverbs and place names were answered thick and fast! Memories A Memory is one, One that lasts forever, A Memory is one, One to treasure forever, A Memory is one, One you create with someone special, A Memory is one, One that you wont forget, A Memory of you, You the special one, A Thousand Memories, Is not worth a real you, A Real you, Is needed to make Real Memories! My Love is not a Memory, My love is True. Olympic Facts Did you know? The Olympic Stadium had a capacity of 80,000 during the Games. It is the lightest Olympic stadium ever built. The fourteen lighting towers are needed because this the first Olympic Games with HD TV freeze-frame coverage that will be essential to capture the action. Rhonda testing our brain power VIEWS AND IDEAS Thank you all for your continuing support and we hope you enjoyed reading our copy of the Tilford Park. We at Tilford Park look forward to the next edition, which will be equally enjoyable. Part of the supporting structure of the roof is formed from 2,500 tonnes of steel tubing that was actually recycled from old gas pipelines.
