The Incarnation mystery: Jesus’ advent, nativity, epiphany. The Paschal mystery: Jesus’ passion, death, resurrection, Pentecost’s Holy Spirit. The solemnities of Holy Trinity and Jesus’ Body and Blood. Today the Church resumes Sundays in Ordinary Time, but with a Gospel of extraordinary mercy: Jesus raises a dead man to life. Yet the one who benefits most from his extraordinary mercy is not the dead son but his widowed mother. With her husband and only son deceased, this woman’s material support, in that patriarchal society, had vanished. So had her emotional support, leaving her helpless, abandoned, on society’s “peripheries.” One of Pope Francis’ hopes in calling this Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy is to transform us into more extraordinary Christians, by making our caring outreach to just such vulnerable people, and our practical self-sacrificing love for them, our ordinary, daily, Christian way of life! —Peter Scagnelli, Copyright © J. SANTA CRUZ CATHOLIC SCHOOL/ESCUELA CATOLICA SCHOOL SUMMER HOURS: Monday through Friday, 9:00AM to 12:00 Noon The School Office will be closed between June 6 and June 17th. Santa Cruz Church, Buda, Texas I-35 Corridor Project Santa Cruz Parish along with other churches in the area of the I-35 Corridor between San Antonio and Austin are participating in a project to better understand the issues that the families of our communities are experiencing in their daily lives. We have all witnessed the rapid changes that have taken place in this region over the past 20 years, changes that have created new pressures that affect our families. This project will train people of our parish to go into our community and engage all families around the challenges that they face: issues such as the dramatic growth of our communities, increased juvenile delinquency, issues that affect access to quality education and affordable health care, among others. Those who participate in the project will be trained to organize the people of the community to work together as neighbors through the church to identify these issues, develop effective solutions and work with public officials to address them. This project has the full support of Bishop Vazquez and will be similar to Austin Interfaith in Austin and Communities Organized for Public Service in San Antonio. Ramon Duran is the organizer who is working with Father Kirby and other pastors in the region. Participating churches are Catholic, Methodist, Lutheran, Baptist, and Unitarian in Buda, Kyle, San Marcos, New Braunfels, and Seguin. Ramon Duran will speak briefly at all the Masses, this weekend, and will sign people up to receive for more information. CHURCH ORGANIZATIONS ORGANIZACIONES PARROQUIALES Holy Cross Festival Raffle tickets.
