GREEK LIFE
BE A PART
Joining a fraternity or sorority can enrich your life by fostering a
common bond with students who have similar values.
UC San Diego is home to 23 fraternities and 20 sororities,
including 18 culturally based Greek letter organizations!
Over 2,220 Triton fraternity men and sorority women take part in this
200-year old international tradition. Greek members often view their
fraternity or sorority as their home away from home. Fraternities and
sororities offer opportunities to serve the community, develop leadership
skills in and outside of the chapter, and cultivate bonds with students who
have similar values.
The governing councils:
All social Greek organizations at UC San Diego are affiliated with one of
three applicable governing councils: Interfraternity, Multicultural, and
Panhellenic. These councils serve as foundations and forums for
collaboration, while working to promote the defining features of this
community.
The fraternity and sorority community as UC San Diego embodies
academic excellence, service, responsible leadership and lifelong
friendship. By joining a Greek organization, you are making a
commitment to be a part of something bigger than yourself!
Thinking about “going Greek?”
Be sure to check out the Center for Student Involvement
website at http://getinvolved.ucsd.edu and the student-run
site http://tritongreeks.org for more info.
“
As a new student, it may be challenging to establish lifelong
friendships. Greek Life is about finding your home away from
home. This is the best decision I made at UC San Diego!
