Russellville
Area Chamber
The Russellville Area Chamber
of Commerce is a voluntary
organization of business
and professional men and
women who have joined
together for the purpose
of promoting the civic,
economic, professional,
cultural, and industrial
progress of our community.
FROM THE PRESIDENT
Six years ago the voters of Russellville knew the importance of extending the existing
one-cent city sales tax and 80% of the voters let it be known. It is hard to believe this
six-year tax will sunset in a few short months.
A dedicated group of citizens, along with City Officials have been working on a proposal to extend this tax another seven years. Hopefully by the time you read this
newsletter the Russellville City Council will have approved an ordinance, which will
put the tax extension on the ballot for an election in September.
We will be asked to support the sales tax extension for seven years. The funds from
this extension will go toward several needs in the city including streets and drainage
improvements, a new central fire station, City Corporation, an aquatic center, parks and recreation improvements, and economic development projects. Simply contact us here at the Chamber for more details.
Speaking of economic development and progress in our community, we have the opportunity to support a
new business in Russellville. On August 13th, we will be asked to go to the polls and vote on a very important issue. As I’m sure most of you know, a new Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market has been proposed for a
site at the intersection of West Main and Vancouver Streets. The Russellville City Council voted to allow a
zoning change of the site. We will be asked to either support the Council’s decision or overrule the decision
to rezone the property. This project will result in the investment of several million dollars and the creation
of over 80 new full-time jobs. A vote to support the Council’s decision will show prospective companies
and industries that Russellville values the opportunities they bring to our community.
Your Chamber Board of Directors has unanimously voted to support this project and encourages our membership to get to the polls on August 13th and vote in favor of the City Council’s decision.
Jeff Pipkin, President and CEO, Russellville Area Chamber of Commerce

CHAMBER NEWS
Business EXPO 2013
The Russellville Area Chamber presents the 10th Annual River Valley Business Expo on Wednesday,
August 7 at Tucker Coliseum. Everyone is invited to meet the businesses that make there home in the River
Valley and surrounding region. Admission is free and open to the general public.
This year’s Business Expo, the only show of its size or scope in the area, will feature over 80 exhibitors,
including restaurants, service providers, retail stores, and non-profit organizations. The event offers exhibiting
businesses the unique opportunity to stand out in today’s competitive world. With the expected attendance over
3,000, the Business Expo is the ideal way to develop key connections that will help grow business. As people
take this time to make connections, they also learn about products and services and purchase items for professional and personal needs.
For more information on the 10th Annual River Valley Business Expo, please call the Chamber office at
(479)968-2530.
Members Only Section on Chamber Website
The Chamber recently launched a new and redesigned website. RussellvilleChamber.org has a fresh look
and is full of value added features to provide a user friendly experience for Chamber members and guests. The
new website has been designed to serve as a hub of communication for the community and a portal through
which members will be able to access exclusive content, resources and information. One key feature of the new
website is the members' only section.
The members' only section allows Chamber members to update their contact information, register for
chamber events, and add events to the community calendar. Chamber members have the added convenience to
make secure online payments for all Chamber events and invoices. Members may also add discounts or coupons
to promote their business under this section of the new website. Chamber Members can utilize a number of
specialized tools to make your membership work better for you.
To receive your members log in credentials, please call the Chamber office at 479-968-2530.
Russellville Area Chamber is Mobile
Mobile technology is a powerful marketing and engagement tool, and the Russellville Area
Chamber of Commerce has embraced this method of communication not only to add visibility for our members, but to also provide an easy way to keep up with current chamber
events, community events, programs, and your favorite businesses while you're on the go.
The Russellville Area Chamber App is available FREE for download in the iTunes App
Store and Android Marketplace. EVERY CHAMBER MEMBER has their own basic listing
as a benefit of membership, which includes a "click to call" and "click to map" link. Mobile
users now have one-touch access to your business contact information and location. As a
member of the chamber, you can now attract more customers by offering mobile coupons,
"near me" deals, and special offers to both chamber members and anyone
in the Russellville area who downloads this free app.
You may view your listing by texting Russellville App to 80802 for a link to download the app
to your smart phone. You may also scan the QR code on this page. If you have difficulty or
should need assistance please call the Chamber office.

Community Leaders Wanted
This is the twenty-eighth year for the Chamber to produce the Leadership Russellville
program. Leadership Russellville is a nine-month program designed to identify, educate and
motivate potential community leaders to make a commitment to the future of the community. It
consists of approximately thirteen sessions that begin with an orientation and two day retreat in
late October.
The deadline to turn in applications is Monday, September 23. Interested applicants
should be individuals who want to commit both time and energy toward involvement in the
community, are concerned with current community issues, have a desire for personal growth,
and who demonstrate a concern for the future of the Russellville area.
To apply to the program or nominate someone for the Leadership program, please call the
Chamber office and request an application.
2014 Board Nominations
The Board of Directors provides the leadership of the Chamber by determining projects
and projects by setting overall policy. This is an important position to the future of Russellville
as well as an honor to those who serve. We encourage you to nominate a Chamber member to
serve on the Board of Directors. To be considered by the nominating committee, nominations
must be submitted in writing to the Chamber office by 5:00 p.m., September 10th.
As stated in Article III, Section V of the Chamber bylaws, the committee is to nominate
from the general membership as many candidates as vacancies on the board of directors. All
candidates must be in good standing. In selecting said nominees, the Committee shall consider,
among other things, that the Board should be fairly representative of the whole membership of
the Chamber.
Any individual receiving the nomination of five percent or more of the membership shall
automatically be placed on the slate of candidates. Contact the Chamber for information on
these opportunities.
