KG Offingen Hof”(BWF). One of the original companies was founded in 1892 by Theodor Wilhelm Schmid and his partners in Hof and the other one four years later in Offingen by the entrepreneurs Silbermann and Lembert. In 1912, Johann Offermann took over the Lembert shares. Until their fusion, both companies had been in the felt production industry. In 1956, BWF succeeded in producing the first extruded plastic “Plexigum” profile. This milestone marks the foundation of BWF Profiles. Expansion of activities into the filter media segment led to the foundation in 1968 of BWF Envirotec, which pioneered filter media production in Europe. In the following decades, until the turn of the millennium, BWF successfully managed to set foot in the USA, Italy and China. Installation of further international production facilities in Turkey and India characterised the past decade at BWF Group under the fourth generation of owner-management. 18 From left to right: Theodor Wilhelm Schmid, Royal Bavarian Councillor of Commerce Johann Offermann, Siegfried Schmid From left to right: Dr. August Offermann, Dr. Helmut Offermann, Wolf-Dieter Schmid The first three generations: former managing partners from the Offermann and Schmid family dynasties 1896 19 BWF Group National and international production sites BWF Group, Germany BWF Offermann, Schmid & Co.
