Krebel Jardins et parc du Château de Barbirey-sur-Ouche This landscaped English-style park, designed in the 19th century and listed as ‘Jardin remarquable’ (‘Remarkable Garden’, a label granted by the Ministry of Culture) since 2004, is spread out over 8 hectares / 19 acres. It has maintained the classical appearance of a landscaped garden, including a large terraced kitchen garden, an orchard, a water garden, a flowering prairie and woodlands. The park offers a great variety of atmospheres and biotopes, and constitutes a harmonious interaction between garden, landscape and village. This forest interpretation centre offers groups of five people and more: nature activities based on the local fauna and flora, tree climbing and GPS circuits in the woods (treasure hunts), in the setting of what is to become the national park ‘Entre Champagne et Bourgogne’. Saint-Martin-de-la-mer Domaine de la Pierre Ronde Domaine de la Pierre Ronde is a natural area stretching over 25 hectares / 61 acres in the heart of the Le Morvan Regional Natural Park. Spend the night in a cocoon where you have everything you need to enjoy this unforgettable experience. Venture a natural excursion, an evening of taletelling, fishing on the lake, hiking, napping in a hammock, and more. New: discover the Hobbit houses Outdoor accomodation in Côte-d’Or Côte-d’Or Tou risme © R. Krebel Located on the Nuits-Saint-Georges plateau, the Fruirouge farm invites you to discover the old-fashioned manufacture of fruits grown and processed on-site. Cultivation, processing and sales of jams and butters, beverages, condiments (including blackcurrant vinegars, mustard and ketchup) as well as the famous fruit jelly confectionery. This ‘house of a thousand truffles and mushrooms’ is a mycology interpretation centre. Within its wooden building, the centre includes an exhibition room where the underground world of the truffle has been reconstructed, as well as a video room where you can watch a film showing a demonstration of truffle hunting in the forest; outside, the surrounding woods offer an enchanting décor. Here you are at the heart of a truffle-filled woodland world. © Frédéric Herbigniaux Fotolia.com Atypical and ecotorism You will find the complete list of campsites in Côte-d’Or on our website www.cotedor-tourisme. com under the heading ‘Staying here – Looking for accommodation – Campsite’. Challanges Corgoloin Clos de la Challangette Manoir Equivocal At Clos Challangette, experience a new sensation staying in a Gypsy caravan. These comfortable accommodations include a bedroom, shower and period living room. Let yourself succumb to the charming atmosphere of the caravans ‘Les Amourettes’ and ‘Valentine et Cupidon’. With a spacious bedroom featuring elegant medieval lines and majestic fireplaces, relaxation and comfort in an authentic setting are yours, in this 15th-century manor house. A second, adjoining bed-and-breakfast room is also available, as well as a cylindrical pigeon tower where you can perch for a night or two! Nature Biking In spite of their technical differences, the two disciplines are similar and the terms are often used together to refer to the same type of sports activity. In Côte-d’Or, the main destinations for the two activities are the Saône River and the Burgundy Canal. Two of the most popular bike paths are the ‘véloroute’ along the Burgundy Canal and the Voie des Vignes. These are far from being exclusive options but rather offer complementary features. After the ‘voie verte’, why not try the ‘voie bleue’, which will take you to the banks of the Saône... Parcours EcoPagayeur® Head off to discover the Saône River and the surrounding waterways aboard a canoe or kayak. You will be welcomed by professionals who ensure that you embark with all the information you’ll need to discover the environment (wildlife), heritage and what makes the region special. Whether you depart from SaintJean-de-Losne, Heuilley-sur-Saône or Auxonne, ‘EcoPagayeur’ circuits have more than one gem to reveal! Saint-Jean-de-Losne Heuilley-sur-Saône Auxonne Côte-d’Or Tourisme © R. Krebel Hiking Rock climbing Côte-d’Or Tourisme © S. Boulangeot Côte-d’Or Tourisme © R. Krebel The culminating point of Côte d’Or is situated at a little more than 700 m / 2296 ft of altitude, so there are no mountains to climb! Still, best to lace up your hiking boots when setting off on the area’s trails. They are numerous, enabling you to choose your circuit from the 1300 km / 807 mi of circuits, 707 km / 439 mi of cross-country paths, and 475 km / 295 mi of long-distance hiking paths that crisscross Côte d’Or. Although better known for its rolling hills than its spiky peaks, Côte-d’Or offers more than 3000 routes spread over 17 chalky cliffs. These routes thrill climbers from Paris, Lyon and even other countries, who strive to outdo each other in reaching the summits. The climbers, who have come for a physical challenge, leave the area with the mental images of the magnificent views that their discipline offers. risme © R.
