Principals Report
External Validation
Today Mrs Gillmore and Mrs Sirisisivath are
undergoing the final stages of the school External
Validation process. This has been a very
worthwhile task to evaluate the school’s
performance against the School Excellence
Framework and to plan for the future for our
wonderful school.
Book Fair and Parade
We are so proud of the projects that our students
completed for Book Week and all the effort put in
to the amazing array of costumes our students
wore on Friday. How blessed are we to have the
wonderful Australian Authors we have.
Thank you to our families who supported our
Book Fair – Book Week is so much fun!
Fred Hollows Award
Congratulations to Shyaleigh
Forgham who has been awarded
the Fred Hollows award for
Humanity. The Fred Hollows
Humanity Award recognizes Year
6 students who reflect the values Fred lived by in
their own lives. Shyaleigh will be attending
Parliament House with Mrs Ellery on Monday to
receive her award.
2016 John Welling’s Award
Samara Morgan and Jessica Alexander’s entries
in the “Who Do They Think They Are?”
competition have progressed to the next stage of
the competition. The girls will find out on Friday
evening at Lithgow Library if they are
prizewinners!
Students were asked to find someone they felt
had been a good influence in Lithgow and write
about them. Jessica chose the Finn Family – Mr
Finn was the first Postmaster at Hartley where
Jessica’s family now runs a café. Samara chose
David Scott, the founder of IPC, a local company
where her grandfather worked for over 30 years.
Congratulations girls!

Conductive Hearing Workshop
“If it’s hard to hear, it’s hard to learn!”
Helen from Bathurst District Itinerant Support
Teachers Team came and visited our K/1
students and talked about the importance of
blowing our noses properly to keep our ears
healthy. Helen used many different props to
illustrate the connection between our nose and
our ears and how blowing our nose can help our
learning.
1ST SEPTEMBER , 2016
raised over $99 to be donated to the Cancer
Council.
Andy Griffiths VC
Andy Griffiths entertained our 4/5/6 students on
Tuesday 23rd August along with 5000 other
students in a special Book Week Video
Conference. Seven lucky students around
Australia were chosen to tell a joke; Coby
Massarella was thrilled to be able to tell his joke
to Andy:
Q. Did you hear that Apple is making a new car?
A. They are having trouble installing Windows.
