GOD’S GRACE
SEYC Camp: 6/27 - 7/4
@SEYC, Alabama
Unmerited favor. Receiving something we don’t deserve. That’s God’s grace.
Grace comes in many forms throughout our lifetime. God’s grace is being
married to that awesome person you don’t deserve. God’s grace is the
blessing of children. God’s grace comes through forgiveness from someone
we have hurt. God’s grace is truly seeing Him in the middle of an impossible
situation. God’s grace is a physical healing. God’s grace is sunshine after a
rainy day. God’s ultimate grace to us was sending His Son to earth to
voluntarily give up His own life so that we may live forever. That’s an
overwhelming grace.

Bible Verse of the Month….

find it.”

My daughter came running out of her room, early on Christmas morning, to
see what gifts she had received. She looked at the wrapped presents
‘measuring them up’ to see if they could be ‘the’ gift. She quickly opened
each gift in hopes of finding the items she wanted.
After she opened all the presents, I asked, “Is there something wrong? Did
you receive what you wanted?” She hesitated and then reluctantly said, “I
was hoping for a Barbie Jeep and a Minnie Mouse hairbrush. But it’s okay.”
I told her to look around and see if there was something behind the kitchen
island. She ran as fast as her little legs could go. She looked behind the
island and stared in amazement. There sat the pink Barbie Jeep with the
Minnie Mouse hairbrush in the cup holder.
She was so excited for that gift. She drove the jeep into walls, chairs, and
tables all winter long. She brushed her long, blonde hair every day with her
brush. The gift brought so much joy to her life.
She did not do anything to deserve those gifts. She received them because
she was loved. Can you imagine how she would have reacted if every time
she disobeyed or was not the ‘star’ kid, they would have been taken away
from her?

Being Single
God gave us the greatest gift; Jesus Christ. He gave because He loves us.
We did nothing to earn it. We can do nothing for it to be taken away from us.
by Jenna
Van Deusen
“God saved you
by His special
favor when you believed. And you can’t take
credit for this: it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good
things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s
masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the
good things He planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians 2:8-10, NLT)
The Best Yes
by Lysa Terkeurst
Review by Emily Danison
If you find yourself saying “yes” when
someone makes a request of you – even
when your brain says no, your schedule
says no, your reality says no, but your
heart says yes – this book is for you.
The Best Yes helps you to realize not every
assignment is your assignment. If you say
yes to something you cannot fully commit
your .me, energy and heart to, you may
be missing out on a Best Yes opportunity
God has in store for you. As the author
illustrates, “the one who obeys God’s instruc.on for today will develop a keen
awareness of His direc.on for tomorrow.”
This book also teaches you not to confuse
the command to love with the disease to
please, because it is impossible to please
everyone. When you seek God’s direc.on
for making decisions, it becomes easier to
discern between saying yes out of a sense
of duty and using the power of the small
“no” to protect your Best Yes answers.
I encourage you to discover your Best Yes
opportuni.es as you make wise decisions
in your walk with Christ.
Once we believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior, we are adopted by God and
become God’s children. Just as loving parents would not take away a
beloved gift, God would never take away the greatest gift. It is a ‘Gift
Received And Cannot End’ – no matter what.

Married Life…
God wants to use your marriage to show
the world around you His grace. How are
you doing? It’s hard isn't it? Two imperfect
people living together in an imperfect world
with imperfect expectations can lead to
anything but a godly example. Over 50%
of marriages fail. That statistic includes
Christian marriages. What can we do to
ensure our marriages are a reflection of
Christ? How can we show grace to our
husbands?
GRACE
The Organized Woman
by Jenna VanDueson
My house is a mess. Literally. As a working
woman with many outside-the-home
commitments, I just do not have the time it
takes to have a spotless home. And you
know what? I’m ok with that, and I don’t
feel that I am letting my Lord or my family
down! The first step in organizing your
whole house is to realize that it does not
have to be perfect. Always remember that
relationships are more important to take
care of than your dirty windows.
I find it almost difficult to write
one ar.cle on grace. Grace is a
powerful word. It is what this is all
about. It is Jesus. When I think of
“grace” the song “Scandal of
Grace” by Hillsong comes to mind.
It starts out saying, “Grace, what
First, we need to go back to our first love— have you done?” This is the type of
ques.on a person asks when they

us to wrap our minds around
Second, pray. Then make the true
commitment to each other that when times because grace is not earned, it
get tough, and they will, that nothing is
only needs to be received to be
going to come between the two of you. Sit affec.ve. Just like Ephesians 2:8
down and talk about how you will handle
says, “…it is not from ourselves, it
conflict before it happens. Does that sound
strange? It may be, but if you have a clear is the gi- of God”. It’s unlimited
strategy on how to resolve something, you for all of us! God sees us worthy of
His grace and He gives it willingly. I
will be more willing to fix it.
Here are some pre-conflict ideas to put into pray you see yourself worthy of

place. Do not blame; none of this “you always…” or “you never…”. Try not to
discuss an issue when the blood is boiling.
You are an example to those around you.
Walk away if tones get escalated. If your
issue does not get resolved, seek
counseling. The Word of God is the best
counsel you can get. Your pastors are also
experienced in helping you get through a
tough time. Resolve to solve the conflict
1 Peter 3:15
instead of walking away from it. The Lord
needs your marriage to be a reflection to a
lost and dying world. Your marriage may
be the only Bible someone ever reads.

Everyone has a
story to tell.
Ladies of Logos Bible Church
• Start small. Do not start your day thinking
you are going to clean the whole house.
Life happens. Break it down. If you take
time to work on one room at a time, you
will be more satisfied than starting to clean
the whole house and not be able to finish
it. Once the room is to your satisfaction, it’s
easy keep up with.
• Recruit help. I tell my kids I had them so I
would have someone clean my house, and
they believe it! All joking aside, it’s a
fantastic way to start building work ethic
and responsibility into your children. My
son’s new responsibility is sweeping and
dusting weekly to pay for a new cell phone.
It’s a win-win!!
• Don’t overwhelm yourself. When guests
come over, you may want to do extra, but
don’t stress yourself out. Usually people
come over to see you, not your house.
Make it as welcoming and clean as you
can before the Lord and you will be
blessed for it!

J
ill Phillips is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter who got her start in the business after graduating from
Belmont University in 1998. Her guitar based folk-rock sound combines with rich, insightful lyrics that deal
with age-old topics in new and fresh ways. Her self-titled debut album on Word Records was produced by
Grammy-award winning songwriter Wayne Kirkpatrick (“Change Your World” recorded by Eric Clapton) also
known for producing such artists as Amy Grant, Garth Brooks and Susan Ashton.
After touring extensively with Caedmon’s Call and Bebo Norman, Phillips decided to step out and record her
next album independently. Produced with Matt Stanfield (Plumb) and Andy Gullahorn, “
God and Money
”
received critical acclaim and helped Phillips to be named CCM magazine’s reader’s choice for Independent
Artist of the Year in 2002.
A
ndy Gullahorn was born and raised in the rich musical climate of Austin, TX and then went to College at
Belmont University in Nashville to join the legions of songwriters in the country music scene. After
graduation, he spent a number of years as a staff writer for publishing companies while playing guitar on the
road for singer/songwriter Jill Phillips (who he happened to be married to).
In 2004, after realizing that his second child was on the way and that his wife would need to come off of the
road, Andy released “
Room to Breathe
” and began performing his own shows again for the first time in 5
years. He has since released three more records – “
(2009) and “
Christmas
Reinventing The Wheel
” (2007), “
The Law of Gravity
”
” (2010).
