On the way there we were all feeling anxious, because we were going to meet new people in a secondary school…a huge secondary school. Once we arrived at Yardleys reception all our anxiety evaporated, when we were met by the very kind Miss Chrysostomou, and several very pleasant Year 11’s. We all felt excited to be learning ‘French in 60 Minutes’, and couldn’t wait to get started. We learnt many words in French, including: French numbers, French colours, French animals and even French greetings, for example: ‘Bonjour’, ‘Ca va’, ‘Salut’, ‘Comment tu t’appelles?’ and lots more. Miss Chrysostomou was so friendly and helpful and so were the Y11’s (we were all impressed with how brave they were, standing up and being teachers!). The whole experience was amazing, and we all hope Yardleys invite us back again. We would like to say a colossal THANKYOU (or Merci) to Miss Chrysostomou and the Y11’s for all their hard work, and for everyone at Yardleys for making us feel so welcome. We hope you enjoyed having us and we are very grateful to you all. Important Message for Parents and Carers Do You Need To Improve Your IT and Computer Skills? If so, we can help! Sporting Success for Yardleys’ Pupils, Past and Present: Our Commonwealth Games Medal Winner : After Nadine Okyere left Yardleys in 2003, she went on to college and university, and joined the Birchfield Harriers athletics club. On Tuesday, in Delhi, she ran the final leg of the 4 x 400 metres final for the England team and in a brilliant last lap won the bronze medal (behind India and Nigeria). We are very proud of her achievements and will hopefully be cheering her on to even greater success in the London Olympics in 2012. Well done, Nadine ! Basit plays for England! Basit Zaman in Y11 has been chosen to play cricket for the England Development Programme over the next four years, including a tour of South Africa for 3 weeks in February.
