Mapping a Network Drive Section 1: Windows Vista or Windows 7 Section 2: Windows XP Section 1 of 2: Windows Vista or Windows 7 1 Click on the Windows Pearl 2 Select Computer 3 If there is an existing drive mapped to the letter you need to use, it will need to be removed. If there is no preexisting mapped drive, then skip to step 4 3a Right Click on the mapped drive to be removed 3b Click Disconnect 4 Click Map Network Drive ***NOTE*** You may need to click on the >> symbol in that area for the option to appear 5 Select G: or P: as the drive letter 6 Enter the network path desired. The path for the personal storage area (or G: Drive) is \\itfs1.asu.edu \(username) The path for the shared department drives (or P: drive is \\wpcarey.ad. asu.edu\share s ***NOTE*** Your Username is your ASURITE ID that is 8 characters or less and is used to log into the ASU computers and web pages 7 Click Finish 8 If you are on an ASU computer, such as an ASU laptop brought home or on a business trip, then the system will know you and will not ask you to log in. The network drive will now appear in the Windows Explorer. If you are on a non-ASU computer, then you will be asked for your username and password. 9 Enter asurite\userna me in the first field of the login window 10 Enter your password 11 Check the box next to Remember my password 12 Click OK 13 The network drive will now appear in the Windows Explorer Section 2 of 2: Windows XP 1 Double click on My Computer 2 If there is an existing drive mapped to the letter you need to use, it will need to be removed.
