Women Religious
Archdiocese of Cincinnati
The hierarchical gifts and the charismatic gifts,
flowing from the one Spirit of God, are not in
competition but rather co-essential to the life of the
Church and to the effectiveness of
her missionary action.
The consecrated life occupies a special place in the
charismatic dimension of the Church as such, fully
inserted into the ecclesial communion, they
contribute with their own proper gifts to
missionary evangelization.

By our ministry we seek to testify to God’s active presence in and
among peoples. We desire to witness to our experience of the Lord’s
love and reinforce by the testimony of our lives that God is present in
and concerned about human affairs. SC Constitutions
In the spirit of St. Julie Billiart
and the tradition of the Congregation,
we, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur,
see ourselves situated within God's
continuing action in history.
Our common aim is to express in our time,
as Julie did in hers,
that God is good. SNDdeN Constitutions
One Community: $260,825 (monetary); $868,700 (in kind)
“We are responsible to help shape the spiritual life of our students and I’m
often surprised by the insight the children have. The students have taught
me who I am, to share my gifts as they share their. My faith grows from the
joy I receive from the work I do.” Joan Shields, SNDdeN
“My primary ministry of Spiritual Direction brings
me great joy. God has blessed me with many lay
women and men as well as members of religious
communities to journey with as they deepen their
relationship with God and learn and grow in the
development of their own spirituality. It is a
privilege to see and hear the may ways the Spirit is
manifested through the people of God. I am
blessed! “ Nancy Vollman, OSU
“I always enjoyed school and the social life that went with it. Some of the
groups I joined at that time were involved in being of service to others, and
were usually led by a Sister of Charity. Eventually I became aware that the
happiness, helpfulness and friendliness of the Sisters, especially those in my
small hometown of Milford, Ohio, combined with and encouraged my desire
to dedicate my life to be of service to God and others, especially through
teaching. That decision to say ‘Yes’
to God certainly expanded my
expectations in wonderful ways.
Life continues to be filled with many
blessings.” S. Patricia Malarkey
