SMALL GROUPS NEWS FOR MARCH Want to meet new people? Explore the Bible? Discover a new talent? Need a shoulder to lean on? Then please consider joining one of our new Small Groups. For more information or to RSVP for a group meeting, please contact Melisa Garney or Peggy Wagner at smallgroups@gumchurch.com. For descriptions of Groups, please visit our Small Groups Board to the right of the front doors, as you are leaving the church. Are you or your family looking for loving, caring people to share your interests and faith with? We welcome you to try out one of our Small Groups, for friendship and faith building! ARTS & CRAFTS Mar. 28th,7:00pm (host home) If you are looking to explore your creative side, then this is the group for you! Come to enjoy fellowship, learn new skills, and have fun creating beautiful things together. March craft is making beaded lanyards. BRIDGE Saturdays 10-12pm (Heritage Hunt) Want to learn to play? Want to join a 4-some and play at any and all levels? Then please consider joining this group, for lessons and/or group activity. Any level of skill can join this group. Lessons are given every Saturday; however, you must RSVP to have your name added to the gate entrance list. CHRONICALLY ILL, CANCER & SPECIAL NEEDS SUPPORT GROUP Mar. 5th, 11:00am (upstairs classroom 3) We will be hosting a health/life coach speaker who will be offering a presentation on meditation and breathing exercises to help manage stress. COUPLES ACTIVITY GROUP Mar. 6th, 4:00 p.m. (Bowling) Come join us for a fun, family evening of bowing at AMF Centreville Lanes. This event will also be hosted by the Family Activity Group, so we are looking forward to getting together with everyone. COUPLES ACTIVITY GROUP Mar. 25th, 8:00pm (Fauquier Community Theater) The untold story of the misadventures and musings of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, two minor characters from William Shakespeare's Hamlet who are childhood friends of the prince, focusing on their actions with the events of Hamlet in the background. Tickets are $16/$14 for seniors. COUPLES DINNER GROUP New Groups Forming NOW This is a great way to meet other couples by joining together for dinner. Groups of couples meet at either a restaurant or a host's home. Couples are assigned in groups of 3 and take turns hosting the other couples. They meet for 4 months and then get reassigned to a new group. DANCE GROUP NO MEETING IN MARCH Begin with a Waltz class. Also learn round dancing, which is ballroom dancing with choreography, and everyone does the same thing as it is cued. All rhythms are included. All levels welcome. DIVORCE, SEPARATION, RECOVERY GROUP Mar. 16th, 6:30pm (host home) This group meets to offer support to one another and study bible related books to help heal from the difficulties of divorce. FAMILY ACTIVITY GROUP Mar. 6th, 4:00pm (Bowling) Come join us for a fun, family evening of bowing at AMF Centreville Lanes. This event will also be hosted by the Couples Activity Group, so we are looking forward to getting together with everyone. FAMILY & MARRIAGE UNIT (Luncheon) Mar. 13th, 12:30(upstairs classroom 3) Discussion group, geared towards topics surrounding marriage, parenting, faith and challenges we face as Christians. This group will be a source of encouragement to take actions to make changes in one another's lives and ultimately help people strengthen their Faith and Trust in Christ. Additionally, it will be a great way to make new friends for some or spend some quality time with your spouse. GUMBALLS Monday Nights, 6:30pm Acapella singing group. LADIES' EVENING BOOK CLUB - NO MEETING FOR MARCH These ladies will be reading and discussing The Nightingale, by Kristin Hannah in April. All are welcome! LADIES' NIGHT OUT AT THE MOVIES Mar. 20th, (late afternoon/evening) Join this group of Ladies for movie outings and for fellowship before or after the movie. LITTLE LIGHTS Mar. 19th, 10:30am (host home) This group will be doing an Easter Egg Hunt in March. You and your baby/toddler are invited to join an informal meet-up for children up to age 3 and their grown-ups. Stop by for coffee and donuts (cheerios "donuts" for babies!) and fun baby activities. The group may do outings as well. MEALS MINISTRY JOIN THE TEAM ANYTIME Love to cook? Love to minister to others? Then please consider joining this TEAM of volunteers who provide meals to families in times of need. Volunteer at your convenience when a need arises. MEN'S FELLOWSHIP & DISCUSSION GROUP Mar. 18th, 7:00pm (Old Bust Head) Do you want to fellowship with like-minded Christian men? This is a great time to invite a friend to join you. This group will discuss biblical topics relating to men's interests, in a casual atmosphere. Come join this inspirational group of Men for an Information Meeting to discuss planning for this group. MOMS' GROUP (with childcare) Mar. 10th & 24th, 9:45-11:15am (at church) This group is to empower Moms with their everyday challenges, by studying Bible related books and having fellowship together. Professional childcare is provided in the Nursery up to age 4. Current study is Kingdom Women, by Tony Evans. MONDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY Monday nights, 7:00 p.m.(at church) Please join Pastor John for fellowship, exploring the Bible, and thought provoking discussions on popular religious subjects. Current Study is 1 Corinthians. OLD vs. YOUNG GAME NIGHT Mar. 19th, 5:00pm (fellowship hall) Think you have what it takes to beat the younger or older generation in a game? Then join us for this fun evening of games like Chess, Checkers, Euchre, Spoons, Rummy, Cribbage, Hearts, Battleship, Bingo, Connect 4, Pictionary, Trivial pursuit, Tri-Ominos, etc. Have a game of your own? Feel free to bring it and team up against the opposite generation to see who reigns supreme. (all in good fun). PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED. Next Event Planned in March with Pizza! RAISING BIBLICAL CHILDREN (During AWANA) Mar. 30th,6:00-7:30, final session This is a DVD series by Tony Evans. "One of the biggest challenges that couples are called to face is raising God-fearing children. Raising Kingdom Kids consists of nine chapters on developing skills as a "Kingdom" parent, followed by how-tos for developing specific character traits in kids. This book challenges and equips parents to fully understand their position under God, helping them fulfill their role in parenting the children God has given them." THURSDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY Thursday Evenings, 7:00pm (host home) If you are looking for a fun and casual group that adds fellowship to learning about the books of the Bible, this is the perfect group for you! Current Study is Bad Girls of the Bible. TUTORING AND HOMEWORK Tuesday/Thursday, 6:00-7:00pm (at church) This group offers FREE, quality & professional tutoring and homework assistance in all specialties, at the church. In addition, if you want to volunteer your talents, then please consider joining this TEAM of talented teachers, assistants & professionals, and volunteer at your convenience. WEDNESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY Wednesdays, 10:00am, (at church) This group will be studying Bird's Eye View of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. WEDNESDAY NIGHT HERITAGE HUNT GROUP Wednesdays, 7:30pm, (Heritage Hunt Mountain View Room, main clubhouse) This bible study and fellowship group is open to all ages and neighborhoods. You don't have to live in Heritage Hunt to join. WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY Tuesdays, 10:00am, (at church) Please join these women as they study different books and subjects from the bible and fellowship together. Join at any time, it is never too late! Currently studying is Matthew's Gospel WONDERFULLY KNIT/BABY BLANKET MINISTRY (TBD) The purpose is to knit or crochet baby blankets (either completely knit/crocheted or crocheted around the border of fleece or flannel material), newborn caps, chemo caps and prayer shawls to give locally to mothers-to-be when they take their baby home from the hospital. Great fellowship happens here. *HIGHLIGHTED NEW GROUP* YOUNG ADULTS GROUP Mar. 19th, 10:30am, Starbucks, Gainesville (Meet & Greet) Come out to Starbucks to meet and fellowship with your Christian peers (20-30ish years old). Bible Study? Social Outings? Both? Now is the time to bring your input for future meetings. Feel free to bring a friend. ALL ARE WELCOME.
