Let us remember the brave men and women who have served in the military, especially those who died in combat. 2016 This weekend marks the unofficial start of summer and a chance to begin a much anticipated time of year. It is a new beginning for all of our graduates no matter from our school, local high schools, universities and further studies. The word ‘commencement’ means a start or a new beginning. Graduations are a time to give thanks for the gift of education but also to look forward with great hope for what the future holds. To all of our graduates… may God guide and protect you in your journey! The last days of school are also upon us. Some of our local public schools have already finished and Annunciation Catholic Academy concludes the academic year this Wednesday. I hope that it has been a good year for all of the children of our parish. The ability to learn and be creative is an incredible privilege. During the school year, many families are very busy and ‘overscheduled’. May the upcoming weeks of summer be an opportunity for some rest and relaxation without being on a time schedule. And of course remember that there is no vacation from God. If you are traveling over the upcoming months, please visit MassTimes.org to find a local Catholic parish at your destination and please bring a bulletin back for me to peruse. When you come before the Lord this week, please pray for me. Know that I will remember you and your intentions in my prayers. May we meet each day in our prayers! In Christ, Very Rev. Stephen D. Music Ministr Mark McCabe at 407-869-9472 mmccabe@annunciationorlando.org May 29, 2016 Stewardshi Reflections on the Readings The more popular name for today’s Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ is Corpus Christi, which of course in Latin means the “Body of Christ.” The Church has celebrated this feast at this time since it was proclaimed by Pope Urban IV in 1264. We are asked on this day to concentrate on two expressions of the Body of Christ — the Holy Eucharist and the Church itself. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (#1327) states the importance of the Eucharist quite succinctly and directly: “In brief, the Eucharist is the sum and summary of our faith.” At the center of every Mass is our celebration of the Eucharist. The word “Eucharist” comes from the Greek word eucharistia which means “thanksgiving.” It is through the Eucharist which we receive the Lord’s greatest gift to us, and it should be in thanksgiving and delight which we receive it. This holy day should also remind us of all those things for which we should be thankful. Gratitude is at the basis of a life of stewardship. It is through thanksgiving for all we have received, especially the Holy Body and Blood of Christ through the Eucharist, that we find the motivation and the commitment to be good stewards. The Pontiff Emeritus Benedict XVI in one of his writings spoke of the Eucharist in this way: “In the Eucharist a communion takes place that corresponds to the union of man and woman in marriage. Just as they become ‘one flesh,’ so in the Eucharist we all become ‘one spirit,’ one person with Christ.” Today we thank God for the incredible gift to us of the Eucharist. thecatholicsteward.com Excer t from the Second Readin 1 COR 11:23-26 May 28/29 Group Cantor 5:00pm 8:00am 10:00am 12:00pm 5:30pm Rebecca Ashley – Soloist Colin Fox - Soloist Mixed Ensemble Chamber Choir Chris McCabe/CP Band Rebecca Ashley Colin Fox Ken Kiesel Phyllis McCabe Chris McCabe June 4/5 Group Cantor 5:00pm 8:00am 10:00am 12:00pm 5:30pm Mixed Ensemble Chamber Quartet Chamber Choir Adult Bell Choir Chris McCabe/CP Band Rebecca Pagan Rebecca Ashley Phyllis McCabe Phyllis McCabe Chris McCabe Brothers and sisters: I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus, on the night he was handed over, took bread, and, after he had given thanks, broke it and said, "This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me." In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me." For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes.
