Ed JMJ God’s Golden Rule: “Do to others whatever you would have them do to you.” (Mt 7:12) “Jesus is saying we need to reflect on what we’d love to have others do for us, and then get up, go and figure out how to give this very thing to them. I don’t know about you, but sometimes, a lot of times, I’m just too tired to be thinking of how to amaze others with the love and kindness I wish they gave to me. Or, I think that someone else doesn’t deserve that attention. Today’s saying is hard because it is concrete. You just can’t get around it because it is so doable and so real.” By Sr. Kathryn James Hermes, F.S.P. LIVING THE EUCHARIST DAILY Brother Randy I cannot recall how many times I have read and meditating with the book: Key to the Doctrine of the Eucharist. It has been my Vade Mecum since my Novice Director gave it to me in 1949. I have read and studied, and perused dozens of books and treatises on the Eucharist, and yet I return to this book again and again for my writings and my meditations. Dom Vonier, O.S.B. captured my recently converted heart and soul with his book written in 1925. Fortunately it has been printed again and again and is available. Remember I was a Jewish lad entering into the Church less than a year before I read this book and having it become my constant companion. Of course, it does not make too much difference which tome you read or pray over in regards to the Eucharist, but you would do well to find one that provides the depth and profundity of this volume. In this day and age, especially, where so many of our brethren do not believe in the sacredness of the Holy Eucharist, we all would do well to become deeply informed about the Eucharist, and how it is the center of our worship, our spiritual life, our Church. The significance of the Eucharist in the worship of Christians today is obvious to many people. The Catholic Church is the only Church and worshipping communion that can trace the Eucharist, the Body and Blood of Christ Himself, all the way back to the Last Supper. All other groups profess that they have the Eucharist or a semblance of the Eucharist, a representation of the Body and Blood of Christ Jesus, the Son of God, but only the Catholic Church has the true Eucharist and this through the Sacred Priesthood which was also the immediate legacy of the Last Supper wherein the Disciples became the first priests. In our lives, in all of our daily lives, the need for spiritual sustenance is primary. Christ the Son of God knew this and thus established not only His Church and its royal priesthood, but initiated the true Eucharist, His Flesh and Blood. “UNLESS YOU EAT MY FLESH AND DRINK MY BLOOD YOU SHALL NOT HAVE LIFE IN YOU.” 20 centuries of the most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, celebrated every single day in thousands of places all over the planet earth, wherein the Holy Spirit, the 3rd Person of the Trinity, changes the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ our Saviour, as He did at the Last Supper. Do you actively participate in this holy endeavor each day, attending Holy Mass and feasting upon the Body and Blood of Christ? He made it so available because of the needs He knew we would face every day of our lives, and of the mandate He gave us to “go forth and baptize…” We need Divine strength and we need Sacred and Holy Grace to fulfill the mandate He has given to all of us. Here is the daily opportunity to speak directly to Christ the Son of God, every day, and to be nurtured and nourished by His True and Real physical Body and Blood. The significance of His being so close at all times... Last Week’s Offertory Day Sunday, June 16, 2013 Offertory Loose Change Total $1,730.10 380.00 $2,110.10 Date Time Intention Sat.
