Dear Parishioners,
Last weekend at the 11:00 Mass I had the pleasure and
honor of conferring the sacrament of Confirmation upon
five members of the RCIA program. Jineth Alexandra
Abella, Teresa Edith Burns, Meghan Catherine Murphy,
Carmen Ramona Prieto, Giovanni Ignatius Romeo were
confirmed in our faith and are now full members of our
Catholic Christian Community. A special thanks to Deana
Campion, Marilyn Graham, and Mike Farrelly for their
dedication in working with others who wish to join our
faith. May God bless you all.
Soon we will begin celebrating once again the First Holy
Communions of our young people. Dates will be announced
in the bulletin. Please keep them and our candidates for
Confirmation in your prayers.
As many of you know already, our Coadjutor Archbishop,
Bernard Hebda, has been reassigned by Pope Francis as the
new Archbishop of St. Paul/Minneapolis. We had the
pleasure of having the archbishop here at Immaculate
Conception on several occasions during the past 2 ½ years.
He will be truly missed by all here in the Archdiocese of
Newark. We wish him well and all God’s blessings as he
begins his ministry to the people of the Archdiocese of St.
Paul in Minneapolis. There will be a farewell Mass and
reception for him on Friday evening, April 29, at 7:00pm at
the Cathedral Basilica in Newark. All are invited.

MARY’S PANTRY (our emergency food outreach) are

Because the disciples heard Our Lord’s call, they were able to
spread the Gospel message with strength and vitality. We, too, can
experience that same joy if we take time to open our hearts, listen
to God, ask for His direction and allow the Holy Spirit to guide our
lives and our decisions.

After faithfully participating in the RCIA (Rite of Christian
Initiation of Adults) process, our sincerest congratulations go to

April 10th at the 11am Mass all received the Sacrament of
Confirmation. Meghan and Teresa also received their First
Holy Communion. We are delighted to welcome them into
full communion with the Catholic Church!

Liturgy for Those Whose Children Have Died
The 29th Annual Liturgy for Those Whose Children Have Died is
Friday, May 6th at 7:30 PM at Notre Dame RC Church, 359
Central Ave. North Caldwell. All parents who have suffered the
death of a child of any age are invited to attend with their families and friends. A personal witness will also be offered as the
name of each child is read during Mass. Pre-registration is requested by call the Family Life Office at 973-497-4327.
St. Cecilia Music Class
Church of the Immaculate Conception provides a free, weekly,
adult/child music class for families with children ages 4 months
to 2.5 years of age. Class combines 45 minutes of music play
with social time for the opportunity to socialize and connect with

20/20 Video Contest
The 20/20 Project is an effort to ban abortion past 20 weeks (postfertilization) in New Jersey by passing the Pain Capable Unborn
Child Protection Act by the year 2020 as a first step to ending
abortion all together. As part of our goal to raise awareness about
the humanity of the babies in the womb and the 20/20 Project,
LIFENET is holding a video contest called #LikeUandMe that is
open to students and others that are 18 years of age or older. Contest Info.: Create a video base on our goal: Ban abortion past 20
weeks by educating the public about the fact that babies in the
womb feel pain. Upon completion, submit your final project to
contest@likeuandme.com. You will be contacted when the winning video is chosen. First Place $200 and video is shown at the

Mother’s Day is May 8th
Spiritual Bouquet Cards available
On Mother’s Day all Masses will be offered for the
intentions of all our mothers, living and deceased.
Mass Intention cards suitable for presentation as a
Mother’s Day gift are available at the back of Church and at the
Parish Office. Fill out the special envelope with your Donation
and return to a priest or put in collection basket. What a wonderful way to remember our mother’s both living and deceased.
Catholic Charities Donation Bin in parking lot
Have You Started your Spring Cleaning? A Donation Bin for
Catholic Charities has now been installed in the Park St. Parking
Lot between H.S. Building & Portable Classroom. Accepted
items: Used Clothing, shoes, linens, sheets, towels, stuffed animals,
Small appliances & books (no reference books). Items must be
bagged or boxed before leaving in bin! All of the items donated
will be sold and proceeds used to support
the many programs for of Catholic

Holy Thursday Collection for the Homeless
We wish to thank all who donated to the Collection for the
Homeless on Holy Thursday. We receive $2086 dollars which
was given to M.E.S.H., Montclair Emergency Shelter for the
Homeless. Thank you for your generosity to those in need.
Operation Rice Bowl Results
Many thanks to all who participated in Catholic Charities
Operation Rice Bowl this Lent. We were able to send a check
to Catholic Charities in the amount of $460.82. Thank you for
your Lenten sacrifice.
