WB TOUR’S STAGE 48:
SCRIPT TO SCREEN BRINGS HOLLYWOOD TO BURBANK
Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood has just unveiled
a brand new experience for our visitors with “Stage 48:
Script to Screen,” an innovative addition to the studio’s
popular tour of its iconic Burbank lot.
“’Stage 48: Script to Screen’ brings a completely new
dimension to the Studio Tour by taking our guests even
further behind-the-scenes of the production world,”
said Danny Kahn, Executive Director, Warner Bros.
Studio Tour Hollywood. “We want our visitors to enjoy
an insider’s view of Hollywood in a fun, interactive way
– right on the lot where so many of their favorite movies
and television shows were created.”
“Stage 48” offers guests the unique opportunity to
explore the full film and television production process,
with each component represented step-by-step
throughout the purpose-built soundstage. Among
“Stage 48’s” various interactive elements exclusive
to the Studio Tour is the opportunity for guests to
re-enact a scene from Friends right on the iconic
Central Perk set. Visitors will also be able to design
their own Batmobiles and movie costumes in one room
or see what it’s like to “fly” on Harry Potter’s broomstick
at the green screen photo opportunity in another.

EMPLOYEE PROFILE
DOUG MAXFIELD
“BEING A PART OF THE COMMUNITY here means
that I can enjoy a good life, near my workplace,
and can support the city that has meant so
much to my company.”
Doug Maxfield, Director of Fitness and Wellness, may have only lived in Burbank for
two years, but he’s felt like a member of the community for much of his 19 years at
Warner Bros.
The initial attraction was the short drive/run/bike to work. However, soon after
moving, he discovered that Burbank had more to offer than just a shorter
commute.
“My wife and I enjoy our quiet neighborhood and close proximity to local
parks where we keep ourselves active. As the proud father of a newborn
son, I like the small-town feel of Burbank while not needing to go far to
find great food and entertainment.”
In his role, Doug leads an amazing staff at the Warner Bros. Fitness
Center, develops programs to improve functional fitness and overall
well-being for Warner Bros. employees, and serves as the Los Angeles
lead for the Time Warner Fit Nation program, which has helped
thousands of employees from Warner Bros., HBO, Turner, and
Time Warner Corporate become more physically active. Last year,
the company supported more than 500 employee triathletes with
training opportunities and race sponsorship.
GREEN SCENE
WATER CONSERVATION ON THE WB LOT
Warner Bros. has been implementing water conservation measures for
several years, and we are aggressively increasing our efforts in response
to California’s historic drought crisis.
In 2013, our studio installed “purple pipe” for landscape irrigation and
connected to Burbank Water and Power’s recycled water system. Today,
our use of recycled water conserves 6.2 million gallons of water annually,
and there are plans to further extend this system for additional landscape
irrigation. This summer, Warner Bros. will also introduce recycled water
to cooling towers on several on-lot office buildings. This will conserve an
additional 8.2 million gallons of water, more than doubling our studio’s
use of recycled water.
“Water conservation is more critical than ever, so we are exploring every
opportunity to reduce our water usage,” said Jon Gilbert, President,
Warner Bros. Worldwide Facilities. “We have implemented a number of
measures so far, and we will continue to adapt and innovate in how we
use water at our facilities.”
Additional water conservation measures already in place include 1,700
low-flow fixtures, water-efficient sprinklers retrofitted with MP Rotator
heads, web-based irrigation control systems, and drought-tolerant
landscaping and synthetic turf in select locations.

WB COMMUNITY BUILDERS:
KIDS’ COMMUNITY DENTAL CLINIC GETS A MAKEOVER
The Warner Bros. Studio Facilities (WBSF) group created the
Community Builders program last year to
demonstrate its commitment to helping
local nonprofit and community-based
organizations in the Burbank area. The
program utilizes employees’ unique skill
sets to create or update a space that is
used by those served by the organization.
Having provided expertise to the Volunteers
of the Burbank Animal Shelter and Luther
Burbank Middle School in the past, this year
WBSF reached out to the entire community
to apply and share projects that they needed
help completing. The Kids’ Community Dental
Clinic was one of two organizations selected as
finalists in 2014.
WBSF departments created the recently unveiled outdoor play
waiting area that includes fencing, low water use landscaping
featuring artificial turf and drought-tolerant plants, the addition
of tables and umbrellas, and a custom-designed sign providing
information on oral care.
And, as a final touch, WBSF volunteers also painted a storage
trailer to resemble a barn, complete with Looney Tunes and
Scooby-Doo characters.

NEW LINE CINEMA
New Line Cinema, a part of Warner Bros. since 2008, relocated
from its longtime offices on Robertson Boulevard in West
Hollywood to Burbank in June 2014.
Breaking in with urban comedies in the 1990s, the company not
only set the standard for big-screen horror flicks for four decades,
but also revitalized the R-rated comedy genre with Wedding
Crashers in 2005. Throughout its history, New Line has been a
leader and has redefined a number of theatrical genres like horror
and broad comedy. New Line has also created some of the
industry’s most popular
and profitable franchises,
including The Lord of the
Rings, The Hobbit, the
Austin Powers trilogy, the
Final Destination series, the
Journey to the Center of the
Earth movies, and more.
New Line’s 2015 release slate
includes San Andreas which
opened on May 29 and
Vacation which will hit theatres
on July 29.
