IMPORTANT REMINDERS
Reach out to each grand knight in your district, if
you haven’t already done so, to lay the foundation
for your relationship with him during the fraternal
year. Offer yourself as a resource for any questions
he may have.
Communication is key —
communicate early and often.
Remind councils to submit the Report of Officers
Chosen for the Term (#185) and the Service
Program Personnel Report (#365) through the
Member Management Application as soon as
possible.
ll councils should be preparing for the
Orderwide First Degree Week scheduled for
August 10 - 16, 2015. This is a good
opportunity for councils to welcome new members
into their council after they’ve participated in the
Knights of Columbus Family Week activities.

that contain five Sundays. Those months in the

January and May.
Councils that wish to conduct this program should
first consult with the local pastor or council chaplain
in order to obtain permission to conduct the program

and to ensure there is no conflict with other scheduled parish activities.
Fifth Sunday Kits (#SR-KIT) are available through the Department of Fraternal Services. The kits consist
of a finger rosary and prayer card. The prayer card contains instructions on how to pray the finger rosary
as well as the prayers and mysteries of the rosary. Personal rosaries may also be used when participating
in the program.
Councils conducting this program during the 2015-2016 fraternal year will fulfill all four Church Activity
requirements for the Columbian Award.
For additional information on the Fifth Sunday Rosary Program, please contact Jason Porrello at 203-7524571 or jason.porrello@kofc.org.
T
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS SAFE ENVIRONMENT PROGRAM
his section will be recurring monthly and contain frequently asked questions about the Knights of
Columbus Safe Environment Program.
What is the K of C Safe Environment Program?
The Knights of Columbus Safe Environment Program is designed to protect young people served through
Knights of Columbus programs and activities, including the Columbian Squires Program, from all forms of
abuse. Councils participating in official Supreme Council programs and activities are required to comply
with all policies and procedures of the Knights of Columbus Safe Environment Program. Knights of
Columbus Safe Environment Program requirements are in addition to all of the safe environment/youth
protection requirements established by local dioceses and parishes.
Who administers the Knights of Columbus Safe Environment Program? Who may I call with questions and
concerns about the Knights of Columbus Safe Environment Program?
The Knights of Columbus Safe Environment Program is administered by the K of C Fraternal Services
Department in partnership with Praesidium, an international leader in youth protection. All inquiries regarding
the program should be directed to the Knights of Columbus Safe Environment Program line at 203-8004940 or youthleader@kofc.org.
