There are only a few days left to sign up for the Walk-A-Thon.
Remember you can also register that morning starting at 9 am. The
walk begins at 10 am at Coligny Beach. We have put in a good word
with the powers that be for a beautiful sunny day. So come on down
and bring your friends. All the proceeds will be going to MS/ALS
research. To date we have raised almost $12,000 thanks to the Hilton
Head chapter, sponsors and friends.
Please contact Marsha Heisler 843-705-6916 or Joan Schwartz 443413-6591 if you would like to register to walk.

President’s Message
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and I hope everyone
has either gotten or has scheduled a mammogram for this year.
Make sure your family members and friends are also taking care of
themselves by having this life-saving exam.
Our Walk-A-Thon is scheduled for this month. The committee has
worked very hard to make this our most successful fundraising
event. Kudos to Marsha Heisler, Joan Schwartz and their
committee who have done an outstanding job. I hope we have a
huge turnout on Sunday, October 18, and I thank you all for
supporting this event.
On a personal note, most of you have heard that my husband, Harvey has been seriously ill
for the last month. We both thank you for your prayers, cards, emails and hugs.Your
concern and support have helped us through some very trying days, and know that you
have all made it a little easier for us.
Sincerely,
Judie
Editor note: Harvey Shatz passed away on October 12. He was an Associate Member of Hadassah and a great
friend to our chapter. Harvey was responsible for many of the business sponsors of our walk a thon and other fund
raising for our chapter. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Hadassah is delighted to announce its renewed, revitalized Missions program for 2015.
There is a mission perfect for you, no matter how you like to travel—at a relaxed and leisurely pace;
combining land and sea adventures; adding a European destination; or delving into commerce and
technology. On every mission you will meet experts on the land and people--and the politics and
progress—of Israel. You will enjoy a private tour of the extraordinary Hadassah Medical Organization in
Jerusalem, delivering the most advanced medical care in the Middle East.
Although specific itineraries vary, every Hadassah mission captures the beauty, the spirit and the
personality of Israel—modern people, sights and sounds in an ancient land. Israel is our past. And our
future.
See Israel with Hadassah.

Education
Dr Carol Stephens was the guest speaker at the Hilton Head Hadassah open meeting on September
16. She is the coordinator of the Lowcountry Coalition Against Human Trafficking speakers’ bureau.
After an informative talk, our members were moved by a video that was shown and subsequent
discussion. Hadassah is proud to have worked for the passage of the “Justice for Victims of Human
Trafficking Act.” Anyone who is aware of this horrific practice should call-888-373-7888 (the National
Hotline) or 843-524-2777 (Beaufort County Dispatch).
Education Vice President Arlene Wizwer presents a
Hadassah certificate to Dr. Carol Stephens (left) at

Annual Membership Renewal
If you are an Annual Member of Hadassah, on the anniversary of your membership, you
will receive a notice from National to pay your dues. I would appreciate it if you would
send your renewal directly to me instead of National. It makes the bookkeeping much
easier.
Consider upgrading to a Lifetime Membership for $212. If you do the math, Life
Membership is equal to approximately 5 years of Annual Membership.
No matter what you choice your membership and participation in this wonderful
organization is greatly appreciated!

Hadassah Certificates
Certificates are a wonderful way to make a donation to Hadassah and celebrate a mitzvah or honor a
memory. Whether you want to donate from $5.00 to $50.00 or more, one of the many beautiful
certificates available is a meaningful way to express your wishes and make a gift to Hadassah at the same
time.
Your gift can be directed to HMO, Youth Aliyah, Stem Cell Research or other research projects should
you desire. I will customize your certificate with anything you would like to say.
Please contact me, Paula Rudman @ pgrudman@yahoo.com or 843-715-9529
I will help you select a certificate, customize it, and mail it for you.
The following certificates were sent last month:
To Dr. Carol Stephens, RN, in appreciation of her presentation on human trafficking
from Hilton Head Hadassah.
To Ruth & Jason Schloss in honor of the Bar Mitzvah of their grandson
from Stan & Sheila Gefen.

Jewish National Fund (JNF) Chapter News
The Jewish National Fund does so much more than plant trees for reforestation of damaged areas and
creating new parklands; it furnishes firefighters with needed equipment, helps with major water
conservation projects, community development, education, research and development, tourism and
recreation, and security…a tall order for a small nation!
Do remember to consider making a donation to JNF the next time you want to commemorate ANY
occasion. It's guaranteed to make both YOU and the RECIPIENT feel good! We will send a beautiful
personalized certificate hand-lettered in calligraphy (the envelope, as well) in return for your donation
of Chai ($18) per tree. All checks can be sent to Barbara Abrams, Treasurer, 24 Raindrop Lane,
Bluffton, SC 29909 with a notation that they are for JNF.
We wish to thank the following individuals for their generous donations, received since the publication
of our last Bulletin. Anything arriving too late to be included here will be acknowledged in our next
Bulletin:
Donnie Rosen in honor of Vince and Barb Myers
Susie & Art Rosenzweig in honor of the Bar Mitzvah
of Sue & Bob Wiener's grandson, Kagan Commesso
Barbara & Norm Solon in memory of Barbara's dear cousin, Dina Monat
Sue & Bob Wiener - in honor of the birth of Ethan David Woods,
son of Diane and Ron and grandson of Estelle & Steven Nadel
