October 2015 Page 2 President’s Message October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and I hope everyone has either gotten or has scheduled a mammogram for this year. Make sure your family members and friends are also taking care of themselves by having this life-saving exam. Our Walk-A-Thon is scheduled for this month. The committee has worked very hard to make this our most successful fundraising event. Kudos to Marsha Heisler, Joan Schwartz and their committee who have done an outstanding job. I hope we have a huge turnout on Sunday, October 18, and I thank you all for supporting this event. On a personal note, most of you have heard that my husband, Harvey has been seriously ill for the last month. We both thank you for your prayers, cards, emails and hugs.Your concern and support have helped us through some very trying days, and know that you have all made it a little easier for us. Sincerely, Judie Editor note: Harvey Shatz passed away on October 12. He was an Associate Member of Hadassah and a great friend to our chapter. Harvey was responsible for many of the business sponsors of our walk a thon and other fund raising for our chapter. He will be missed by all who knew him. Hadassah is delighted to announce its renewed, revitalized Missions program for 2015. There is a mission perfect for you, no matter how you like to travel—at a relaxed and leisurely pace; combining land and sea adventures; adding a European destination; or delving into commerce and technology. On every mission you will meet experts on the land and people--and the politics and progress—of Israel. You will enjoy a private tour of the extraordinary Hadassah Medical Organization in Jerusalem, delivering the most advanced medical care in the Middle East. Although specific itineraries vary, every Hadassah mission captures the beauty, the spirit and the personality of Israel—modern people, sights and sounds in an ancient land. Israel is our past. And our future.
