JULY 27, 2014
Dear Parishioners,
This past week I received a telephone call from Sr.
Rosario who is enjoying summer vacation in Ireland. While Sister is
away, I have been trying to spread the word about the upcoming
celebration honoring Sr. Rosario’s 50 years of service to our school
and parish. Please remember to mark your calendar for Sunday,
September 28th at our 10:15 a.m. Mass followed by a reception in
our Upper Cafeteria and again on Monday, September 29th with a
10:00 a.m. All School Mass followed by a reception. Cardinal
Timothy Dolan will celebrate the 10:00 a.m. All School Mass on
Monday.
Everyone is most welcome to attend both of these special Masses
and receptions. Please continue to spread the word to family,
neighbors and friends—and plan on being a part of this historic
celebration.
I am currently in need of men and women who are willing to serve
on a Planning Committee for this special celebration. If you are
interested in helping, please send me an email at your earliest
convenience at EdStanger@gmail.com.
On another note, I received an email from Fr. Joe Welschmeyer’s
family expressing gratitude to our parish for the outpouring of
support at the loss of their brother. The following is from the
Welschmeyer family:
“During these days and weeks following Fr. Joe's passing, we have
been blessed with the loving embrace of family and friends. It is
during these difficult times that we see how fortunate we are to have
such a loving family and such wonderful friends.
Fr. Joe was also blessed with many great friends. We are truly
appreciative of your many kind expressions of sympathy. Whether
you brought food for the luncheon, worked at the luncheon, sent a
memorial for Holy Family School or money for Masses or a Mass
enrollment, sang in the choir or attended his wake service or funeral
Mass, your generosity in the giving of your time and talent is greatly
appreciated.
We are also truly appreciative to all who remembered Fr. Joe in their
prayers throughout his battle with cancer. We especially thank those
of you who visited him, brought him food, provided rides for him,
sent him cards or emails of encouragement and to the countless
people who did so many other random acts of kindness for him, may
it be returned to you one hundred fold.
Fr. Joe has a special place in all of our hearts and through our
cherished memories he will live on forever.
Thank you again for all you did for Fr. Joe and for our family.”
“All things work for
good for those who
love God.
—Romans 8:28a

“We know that all things work for good
for those who love God, who are called according
to his purposes.” Romans 8:28
Do you really trust God? Do you believe that all things work for good?
Faith is a challenge for everyone at times. Putting our trust in God, in
everything we do, means that God’s plan for our lives may be different
than our plan. When one door closes, another one opens. Trust in
God. His plan is always better.

Now, you can support your parish
while you shop! How do you do it?
Designate Church of Holy Infant as your charitable
beneficiary—follow the directions at smile.amazon.com.
By selecting Church of Holy Infant, 0.5% of your eligible
purchases go to Holy Infant.
Here is what you do:
CHANGE YOUR INTERNET FAVORITE: You simply
change your internet favorite from amazon.com to
smile.amazon.com. There is no difference in pricing; your
account settings are still there. If you are an AMAZON
PRIME member, you still are with AmazonSmile. It is
simply the way for Amazon to track the charitable
donations.
FRIENDS/FAMILY: Tell your friends and family. Even if
they only use Amazon occasionally, it is still money to
Holy Infant. Once you designate Church of Holy Infant
as your charitable beneficiary, you don’t have to do it
again.
SCRIP: SCRIP sells Amazon gift cards. A $25 gift card
earns 3.5% to our parish! Stop by the SCRIP table in the
Church vestibule after most weekend Masses. You can
also contact your SCRIP team at higiftcards@gmail.com
to purchase gift cards. Thank you for your support of Holy
Infant Parish!
