2013 will be a busy year for Gunther Village, with our continual pursuit of
continuous improvement of our service delivery to our residents and staff. It is
easy to be scared by change. Not only does it represent the unknown, but it
also calls on us to adapt. Change brings change in ourselves and in the way we
do things. With this in mind, in the next 12 months Gunther Village will ride this
wave of change and adapt, to ensure we maintain our value of ‘being
recognised as an organisation for excellence that provides a diverse range of
community services that meets the needs of the clients and staff’. My strategic
plan for the next 12 months is to position this organisation as the first point of
entry for potential clients. To achieve this, we must offer choice to our clients by
further enhancing the services we provide. We will branch into the community
care sector by offering additional home-based services within the community,
expand on our community networks, improve our marketable position within the
aged care industry, provide further job opportunities for staff and jobseekers,
and actively pursue continuous improvement in our daily operation.
Once again, I would like to wish you all a very Merry
Christmas and Safe and Happy New year.

I would like to take the opportunity of our last newsletter for the year, to wish our
residents, staff, volunteers, board members and the entire community a very
Merry Christmas and safe and Happy New Year. This is always a wonderful
time of year to allow us to reflect and remember what is important in our lives.

Activities News
Can you believe that our Hub was transformed into a ‘mini market’ on Sunday 2nd
December? It looked amazing, resulting in a very successful day. Much effort was
put into the organising the event, thank you to all who took part.
Stall holders included our friends from the GRV Opportunity Shop, Mitre 10,
Gaynday Pharmacy, Gayndah Newsagency, Gayndah State School, Di’s
homemade kids wear, Thanom’s Thai food / sausage sizzle & of course our stall
consisting of handmade craft & soap. Everybody loved our home made baking
which included rum balls, apricot balls & fresh fruit salad with or without ice cream.
Coffee on Capper was also buzzing with activity on the day.
The flavour & colour of Christmas is with us, how lovely to see the decorations go
up throughout our facility.
A delightful morning was had, thanks to Lorna who brought along Alice - mummy
duck & her 10 gorgeous ducklings. We sat & watched them swim & play in their
pen outside the hub, had a cuppa & took 2 ducklings visiting residents in bed.
Visitation was short as Alice insisted on having her babies back - she was in her
pen in Gunther Wing making quite a racket.
