What is the Retrouvaille Program?
The word Retrouvaille™ is a French word meaning rediscovery. The program offers tools needed to rediscover a long
marriage relationship. Thousands of couples headed for cold,
unloving relationships or divorce have successfully overcome
their marriage problems by attending the program.
The Retrouvaille Program consists of a weekend experience combined with a series of 6-12 post-weekend sessions
over 3 months. It provides the tools to help put your marriage in
order again. The main emphasis of the program is on communication in marriage between husband and wife. It will give you
the opportunity to rediscover each other and examine your lives
together in a new and positive way.

appreciate the hard work of the Knights; say a good
word to them; meet and greet the new people; make
a friend; and at the same time give witness to the
passing cars that God is still part of our lives.
From the Pastor’s Desk
I hope you had a great weekend especially the 4th
July.
Our national festivities with BBQ's, fireworks, parades,
times off, travels and outings are behind us and we
move slowly /summer pace/ through our more regular
summer days. Our many ministries take summer off
from meetings, and our parish staff will too take some
weeks off from their busy schedule. Our
parish office staff will make sure that "all
corners of the parish life" will be covered. A heartfelt
thank you goes to Fr. Joseph Dube from the Diocese
of Sokoto, Nigeria, for being with us last Sunday. Any
donation to the Missionary Cooperation Plan will be
sent to the Archdiocesan Society for the Propagation
of the Faith, to support the work of the Missionaries in
Nigeria. If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to support the missionary work of Fr. Joseph
and his diocese, please use a yellow envelope, available at the entrances of our church. Thank you for your
support. It was very enjoyable to see and hear our
combined choirs at 11 am last week. Thank you for
your ministry.
St. Joseph in the Eucharistic Prayer
I am sure you have noticed a little change or rather addition that our Holy Father recently made to the Eucharistic prayers. In response to petitions received from
around the world, Pope Francis has decided to include
the name of St. Joseph in Eucharistic Prayers II, III,
and IV after the name of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Blessed Pope John XXIII decreed that Saint Joseph’s
name be added to the ancient Roman Canon
(Eucharistic Prayer I). So from now on it will be ....with
the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with
blessed Joseph, her Spouse, with your blessed
Apostles.... Speaking about Popes, it was announced
last week that blessed John XXIII and blessed John
Paul II will be canonized this year. This is great news,
as these two Popes really changed the way the
Church lives and proclaims the Good News.
K of C and Socials
I am very grateful to our Knights for organizing and preparing Sunday Socials after Sunday morning Masses.
What a great service and ministry they provide to our
Parish. Thank you so much for that witness. At the
same time I am delighted to see how many parishioners are using the main door of our church to enter and
to the exit. Some have even commented that it reminds them of their wedding day. I would like to encourage you, the parishioners of St. Clare, and espe
cially those who can, to use the main door; come and
Golf for our St. Clare Athletics
I would like to invite and encourage golfers from our
parish to sign up for the golfing extravaganza to support our St. Clare Athletics. A sign-up sheet is in the
parish bulletin. Since this is one of the major fundraisers for our athletic program, let's make it successful.
Invite friends, co-workers, ask neighbors or your children to join for us this fun day. If you know St. Clare
graduates, once a Falcon, always a Falcon, ask them
to come and join others. I have had the opportunity
to play a few times this summer - thanks to avid golfers from our parish - and I know how much fun it is,
despite embarrassing shots that humble our egos.
So, to all of our golfers, I dedicate this prayer that I
came across. Happy golf day!
"Lord, as I walk down the fairways of life, help me to
realize that my greatest opportunities to learn are actually when I am in the rough, where I discover things
I never knew were there, and when I'm in the deepest
sand, where I learn that there is a time to walk softly,
and clean-up after myself, and when I'm playing
scramble, where I learn that I have friends to make up
for what I lack, and when I find the water, where I
learn that some things are better left alone. And when
the ball rolls into the hole for that wonderful par, help
me to realize that all good things come from you." by
Jeff Hiatt
R.C.I.A.
Have you ever thought that you might like to become a
Roman Catholic? Did you ever want to have the opportunity to ask questions about the Church in an
open, relaxed setting? Perhaps the process of adult
initiation (RCIA) is for you. This process is for people
who have never been baptized; for those who have
been baptized into another faith community; and for
those who have been baptized into the Roman Catholic Church but did not receive the other Sacraments
of Initiation - Eucharist and/or Confirmation. RCIA is
an opportunity for you to "Come and See" - to ask
questions, to meet others, and to decide in a nonthreatening environment if this is a decision you might
like to make. Pass this message around. Perhaps you
know someone who is being called by the Lord to
make this step in faith. If you would like to come, or if
you have any questions, contact Janet, Deacon Larry
or Fr. Andrew at the Parish Office at 313-647-5000
before September.
Have a great and safe summer
Fr. Andrew

Let’s pray for life and let’s work to defend life,
every human life — from conception to natural
death, especially the lives of those who are weak and
most vulnerable — the elderly, the sick, the
handicapped, the child in the womb, the hungry and
the poor.
~ Most Reverend José Gomez, Archbishop of Los Angeles,
California, Speech to the Youth Rosary Rally of Cantwell
Sacred Heart of Mary High School, May 1, 2013.
Let us pray for the sick, the elderly and the dying:
that the Lord give them comfort and hope through
the gentle compassion of their caregivers.
