By 1957, CFCW stood for “Canada’s First Country Western” as it became the first station in Canada to play entirely country music. Over time, CFCW grew into the powerhouse it is today, claiming both Edmonton and Camrose as home and reaching all of North-Central Alberta, from Slave Lake to Red Deer, Edson to Lloydminster. CFCW is proudly celebrating 60 years as the home of real country music and looking forward to 60 more! www.cfcw.com 98.1 CAM-FM is the station for all of Camrose, Wetaskisin, Leduc, Nisku, Sherwood Park and Edmonton; playing the Best Songs of the 80’s, 90’s and Today. 98.1 CAM-FM is connected with the community and is the home of the Camrose Kodiaks. www.981camfm.com MEDIA PARTNER PROFILES Find the Rock Camrose photo contest Canada Cup Day in Camrose Support our sponsors and “get the picture” of businesses around Camrose with staff wearing red Home Hardware Canada Cup t-shirts and email to kduggan@curling.ca. And that’s exactly what people will receive from country singer Trevor Panczak at this year’s Home Hardware Canada Cup of Curling, presented by Meridian Manufacturing. Panczak will take over the Patch at the Camrose Community Centre on both Dec. 3 and 4 to deliver his captivating country performance. Alberta born and farm-raised, Panczak knows the definition of country and isn’t scared to show it with his laid back humour, smooth voice, and charming stage presence. On Dec. 3, Panczak will step onto the stage with his guitar and put on a solo performance for the Wednesday night show at the Patch. He’ll pick up here he left off the next evening when he hits the stage with a full band. Panczak has been gaining popularity with each passing year. He’s taken his performances to a whole new level, most recently opening for country star Tim McGraw at Rexall Place in Edmonton this past July. The country performer knows a thing or two about curling too. Panczak has performed at the 2013 Tim Hortons Brier and Scotties Tournament of Hearts. He also has a song called “I Curl” which he describes as “the very first love song with curling innuendo.” All you need is a same-day ticket for the Canada Cup of Curling to get into the Patch and be entertained by one of country music’s rising stars. That’s what Lethbridge rock band The Chevelles will not only tell you - but show you during the Home Hardware Canada Cup of Curling, presented by Meridian Manufacturing. The Chevelles have been touring Canada for over 14 years and aim to make every performance one to remember. They’ll make that prophecy come true on Friday, Dec. 5 when they set the tone for the weekend at the Patch in the Camrose Community Centre. Band members T.T. Chevelle (drums, vocals); Buck Chevelle (lead vocals, lead guitar); Woody Chevelle (guitar, vocals, keyboard); and Kitty Chevelle (lead vocals, bass guitar) present the explosive and dynamic power of rock n’ roll in its purest form. The Chevelles look forward to kicking off the final few days of the Canada Cup of Curling in a memorable way. The Chevelle’s are no stranger to the Season of Champions circuit after rocking the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Kingston in 2013 and their hometown of Lethbridge in 2007. This is not The Chevelle’s first appearance at the Canada Cup of Curling, either. The band brought their monster set list with them to Medicine Hat and played at the 2010 Canada Cup. It’s not a coincidence The Chevelles keep getting asked back to perform during the Season of Champions events. And it certainly will not be a coincidence when your head starts rocking and your feet get stomping at the Patch on Friday night. It all comes at the fair price of a same-day ticket to the Canada Cup of Curling. It all began at the back of the Shamrock Fruit Store in 1903. Amid apple crates and potato sacks, three enterprising newsmen produced the first edition of the Edmonton Journal on Nov. 11, 1903. Their mission was simple: to provide relevant and reliable news and information to the Edmonton community. A century later, our focus on the community still beats at the heart of all we do, and is the lifeblood of our organization. We remain Edmonton's most trusted voice, providing a professional perspective on news, business, sports and entertainment that’s read by more northern Albertans than any other daily newspaper. www.edmontonjournal.com MEDIA PARTNER PROFILE 8 Vision Credit Union – Official Volunteer Sponsor 1 2 Volunteer Appreciation Gala Volunteer recognition for the Home Hardware Canada Cup is a priority and instead of waiting until the event is over – we are throwing our Volunteer Appreciation Gala at the beginning. Where: When: The Norsemen Inn, Salon ABC Tuesday, December 2nd @ 6:00pm An RSVP is required by November 4th to Ken at kduggan@curling.ca and tickets will be presented at the Volunteer Rally on November 12th with your volunteer gear. Your Volunteer Appreciation ticket is required at the door the night of the Gala. Please present it at the door for entry and to the bartender for your complimentary drink. APPRECIATION Cocktails with cash bar start at 6:00pm with Dinner and the Team Jacket Auction to follow. The Volunteer Appreciation Gala is a combined event with the sponsor Opening Banquet. It’s a party that will kick things off with a bang! Saturday • DECEMBER 6th Suite33 will take over the Patch at the Camrose Community Centre during the Home Hardware Canada Cup of Curling, presented by Meridian Manufacturing and they promise a non-stop party. There might not be a better band out there to get a crowd on their feet, and Suite33 is looking forward to bringing a dance party atmosphere to the people of Camrose on Saturday, Dec. 6. Equipped with a programmable laser light show, and hundreds of songs in their repertoire, Suite33 is guaranteed to take any party to the next level, performing the very best that pop music has to offer. Suite33 has been perfecting their act in hundreds of venues across North America that include - but are not 9 limited to - Western Canada and a handful of states, including Las Vegas. Suite33 is no stranger to the curling scene, either. The band performed at the 2012 Ford World Women’s Curling Championship in their hometown of Lethbridge. Lead singer Nicole Freeman will set the pace and tone of the evening from the first note, and will engage the crowd. Suite33 also includes Freeman’s brother Marc Belisle (lead vocals, lead guitar); sister Lizette Lynch (lead vocals, acoustic guitar, percussion); Rich Oler (drums, vocals); and Doug Freeman (bass, sound and lighting). Together these five talented musicians will be a rock solid force on the stage and add to the evening’s entertainment. A same day ticket to the Canada Cup of Curling will get you entry to the Patch. Vision Credit Union – Official Volunteer Sponsor 1 2 The Orchard are a southern country band with a rock edge and will take over the Patch for an evening during the Home Hardware Canada Cup of Curling, presented by Meridian Manufacturing. Camrose will welcome The Orchard on the weekend of Dec. 6-7 for performances each night at the inaugural Winter Fest. The band hails from Edmonton and consists of Kasha Anne and Mitch Smith. The country band are sure to strike a chord with the audience through the band’s twangy guitar riffs and Anne’s soulful voice. The Orchard is on the rise in the music scene and have received numerous nominations from the Association of Country Music in Alberta, nominating the band for “Group or Duo of the Year” and most recently for “Rising Star” and “Song of the Year” for their song “All Roads Lead Home.” Get familiar with their debut album from 2012 called “Southern Ground”, which received rave reviews and had five singles reach the top 100 on Trax country charts. If you like what you hear, then you’re in luck. The Orchard has released its latest latest album “Georgia” in late August. The inaugural Winter Fest will complement the Canada Cup this Nov. 28 to Dec. 7 and allow the people of Camrose and visitors to the city the opportunity to marvel in an abundance of winter activities, events, and of course music all week long. Winter Fest – November 28th to December 7th Highlighting the beauty and excitement of curling and the holidays, the Home Hardware Canada Cup of Curling and Camrose Winter Fest will be the family events of the season. Ice sculptures, outdoor curling, horse drawn hay rides, carolers and more will transform Camrose into a winter wonderland. The Camrose Community Centre will host family oriented entertainment in and around “The Patch” with dance groups, skill demonstrations (competitive skipping, etc.), magicians, buskers, mascots and more. 10 Vision Credit Union – Official Volunteer Sponsor
