Year 8 Launch Evening Presentation
EST 1529 Bingley Grammar School ETHOS What is an “ethos”? • • • • It’s not words on a presentation It’s not something for the school logo It’s not a “flash in the pan” initiative It’s not something that ticks an Ofsted box • It IS the fundamental core values that we hold in our school. • It IS the primary spirit of a community that drives us forward. • It IS how we conduct ourselves on a daily basis and what we truly believe is important • It applies to ALL of us: staff, students, parents, governors Rationale • This is not a new initiative, this is a long-term commitment to our core values • Its should lead to a deeper understanding of what we value in our school and how best to achieve it • The ethos should be developed to highlight and support our existing strengths • The values it emphasises should be embedded in all aspects of school life • Ideally, it should be easily recallable • It should show our journey at BGS • It should be visual around the school and be included in all communication EST 1529 Bingley Grammar School Belong, Grow, Succeed Belong, Grow, Succeed Mission Statement • At Bingley Grammar School we belong to a school community where we feel safe, connected, understood, and supported. • Bingley Grammar School inspires students and staff to grow and achieve their full potential by providing guidance, support and opportunities. • We will succeed because we have the drive and determination to be the best we can be in all aspects of our lives. “Working together to be the best that we can be” The Bingley Journey Belong A caring school community Feel safe and happy in school Grow Succeed Develop socially, academically, morally and spiritually Achieve your full potential Academic results that allow you to choose your next steps Respect others Understand the world around you Show progress in your learning by achieving your goals Become a responsible young adult Pastoral Support in Year 8 Tutors – often the first point of contact 8M1 8M2 8M3 8O1 8O2 8O3 Ms S France Miss H Ilses Ms L Stockhill Mrs E Scatchard Miss S Shah Mr P Hodgson 8S1 8S2 8S3 8W1 8W2 8W3 Mrs A Taylor Miss P Butler Ms Mrs C Burns Ms S Richards Miss H Fraser Mr D Swann Head of Year – Peter Martin peter.martin@bingleygrammar.org Student Support Officer – Anita Bradley anita.bradley@bingleygrammar.org Bingley Grammar School Belong, Grow, Succeed EST 1529 Excellent Eights Why I am here?
