With the capacity to coordinate up to a 100 ironworkers, contractors and labourers on half a dozen jobsites across Western Canada, WCS has developed a solid reputation for following through on structural and pre-engineered steel building projects that exceed clients’ expectations. “Your name and reputation say a lot,” says owner Corey Ivanitz. “Our advantage is we run a safe company so there’s no liability for the client. We prioritize safety and quality, while meeting production schedules.” As a sign of WCS’s dedication to worksite safety—which includes the implementation of a company-wide audited safety program—we have been awarded the COR (Certificate of Recognition) designation for Western Canada from the Construction Safety Alliance. Years of experience allows WCS‘s management team to effectively communicate project goals and timelines between office staff, field crews and clients to ensure your project remains on schedule. CUSTOM TRUCKS SWIFT CURRENT, SK - WINTER 2014 Construction jobs that go off without a hitch are few and far between. Staffing issues, weather, product delays and other logistical pitfalls can easily set a project back. When WCS built a custom truck dealership in the middle of winter in Saskatchewan, they might have expected to encounter one or two climatic hiccups. Instead, the crews buckled down and finished the 80’ x 160’ building in six weeks—well ahead of schedule. It just shows the lengths WCS will go to satisfy our customers. “WCS has now done several projects for Frontier. I love the fact that I can give them a project and know that the job will be completed on time and on budget. The crews arrived well equipped and well prepared, and persevered through rough Saskatchewan weather to ensure that they were able to meet project deadlines. In fact, they finished this project on budget and well ahead of schedule.” Tim Ardley | Frontier Construction NAT BAILEY STADIUM SEATING EXPANSION VANCOUVER, BC - MAY 2015 When WCS was hired by Centaur Products to help with a bleacher and grandstand expansion along the third-base line at the popular Nat Bailey Stadium, they delivered a home run. With the Vancouver Canadians’ baseball home opener a little over a month away, WCS worked within the project’s tight timelines and completed the job ahead of schedule. Where some companies might have been tempted to drag their heels on a cost-plus contract, we got our boots moving — meeting and exceeding each of the project’s milestones. “This letter is to recognize the great work of Western Canadian Steel on the Nat Bailey Stadium seating expansion project. Their staff were detailed, experienced and strongly committed to worksite safety. This project had very tight timelines and they were a huge contributor to completing the project on time and on budget. We at Centaur Products would recommend their work and would not hesitate to use their services again.” Corey Heikamp | Centaur Products Inc. 4 | Western Canadian Steel Commercial Projects | 5 INDUSTRIAL PROJECTS Worksite safety is an integral part of any industrial project, and it’s one of the reasons more general contractors are turning to Western Canadian Steel (WCS) for their pre-engineered and structural steel building solutions. Our company has developed a reputation for being able to remain productive and on schedule while strictly adhering to the ongoing safety requirements that protect the jobsite and all those working on it. Safety is part of the culture at WCS. It trickles down from the top, starting with the management team and continues down to the workforce. We have taken it upon ourselves to safeguard our team by implementing a COR audited safety program. Our experienced management team oversees everything from estimating to logistics to project management—this enables our field crews to have the support they need to deliver a project on time, and on budget—no matter the location. WCS understands that corporations are heavily invested in their projects. When awarded a project, we are completely committed to your success, and following through on a given assignment is something WCS has become renowned and respected for. Part of the reason we’re able to do this is that we have access to the skilled manpower needed for even the biggest of jobs. Our in-house management team ensures they continually meet the high standard of workmanship our clients have come to expect on every project. HUSKY SUNRISE ENERGY FORT MCMURRAY, AB - MAY 2014 Last-minute changes are common in the construction world, and companies that can roll with those alterations can save clients a lot of time and money. When WCS took over the erection of a partially completed steel building on the Husky project, they started with 15 field workers. When Husky asked WCS to ramp up the scheduling, we responded by more than doubling the workforce—processing and transporting the additional crew to the jobsite in less than two weeks. We’ve had as many as 40 workers on this project during peak construction, which is a great example of our workforce versatility. “WCS came in and took this project over from another contractor, which can be extremely difficult. They didn’t miss a beat; correcting deficiencies from previous work and keeping the project moving smoothly and on schedule. When we asked WCS to ramp up their workforce, they did so—quickly and efficiently. While this was the first project we did with WCS, it definitely will not be the last.” Kevin Burger | Makloc Construction CERRO VERDE COPPER & MOLYBDENUM MINE AREQUIPA, PERU - AUGUST 2014 WCS lent their project management expertise to this massive mining operation that included 700 ironworkers. We quickly identified and addressed key barriers to productivity and began implementing systems that streamlined logistics and increased the project’s overall efficiency. Through the simple inclusion of a work glove program for employees, WCS was able to drop the number of daily incident reports drastically. Within six months, the client was already noticing the benefits of the safety and productivity systems WCS put in place. “ WCS has supported the Cerro Verde expansion project with technical expertise in the areas of; construction execution, planning for structural steel erection, and worksite efficiency analysis during the civil and structural phases of construction in the grinding and flotation areas of the project. That technical support played a key role in maintaining good productivity levels of the contractors’ workforces and made a significant contribution to the improvement and efficiency of the work-flow. WCS’s efforts in supporting the mobilization of these services in Peru, under difficult administrative conditions, speaks to the high quality and flexibility of the WCS administration group.” Joe Rokosh | Cerro Verde Production Unit 6 | Western Canadian Steel Industrial Projects | 7 WE WORK FOR YOU.
