The UNO Writing Workshops Abroad have been held every summer for 19 years in such
locations as Prague, Madrid, San Miguel, and Edinburgh. 2014 marks our second year in
Ireland, and we are excited to return to University College Cork. Admission is open to graduate,
post-graduate, undergraduate, and non-degree-seeking students. Our experienced faculty and onsite staff are committed to the success of the program and its participants, and our unique
combination of workshops, lectures, forums, and activities offer something for everyone.
The basic cost of the program is $4,295 for up to six credits, and $4,995 for nine credits. This
includes accommodation in college-affiliated apartments; some meals; opening and closing
receptions; weekend excursions including Dublin and Castle Blarney; our reading and film series;
performances by students, faculty, and guest writers; study abroad insurance; and a panel of
authors, literary agents, and publishers to discuss the business side of writing.
We also offer a non-credit Writing & Publishing Forum to assist writers at the beginning of their
careers. Participants attend writing and craft workshops and discuss manuscript and publication
questions with authors, editors, publishers, and peers, all within the confines of a supportive
group environment. The cost of the Forum is $2,195 for two weeks, and $2,995 for four weeks.
