Online giving is at your fingertips: Go to www.sspef.org. 5th Annual Friends of the Foundation Celebration Where Fun and Funding Meet The South St. Paul Educational Foundation will hold its Annual Friends of the Foundation gala on Thursday, August 15th at Southview Country Club. The Friends of the Foundation is a celebration to show support for the Educational Foundation and its efforts of enriching the lives of South St. Paul students. Last year over $25,000 was raised to help support programs and scholarships for students of the South St. Paul public schools. The evening is filled with great friends and food, and a live and silent auction. Please plan on joining us we would love to see you there! For further information or if you have items to donate please contact the foundation at 651-457-9486. 2013 Scholarship Banquet On Wednesday, May 8th 127 students received scholarships totaling over $289,900. We are very proud of the broad range of scholarships that were awarded covering a true cross section of students. The scholarships ranged from $500.00 to $20,000.00. Lehmann AMY WILLIAMS FATHER David and Julie Webb 2013 Roxanne Bliss Silver Apple Award Linda Kjerland, a special education teacher at Kaposia Education Center and Jon Gustafson, a 7th grade math teacher were presented the 16th Annual “Roxanne Bliss Silver Apple Award” from the South St. Paul Educational Foundation. Don Bliss, SSP Class of 1950 established the Silver Apple Award in honor of his wife, Roxanne Waldhauser Bliss, SSP Class of 1951. This award was created to encourage students to appreciate educators or support staff who are especially important to them. It is their belief that school employees play a very instrumental role in the future success of students. Students nominate a teacher or other employee who make a significant difference in their lives. 26th Annual Walkathon Mark your Calendars! This year’s annual walkathon will be held on Wednesday, September 18th. The walk will begin at the high school at 4:30 p.m. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor please contact the foundation at 651-457-9440. Kindergartners annual trip to Dodge Nature Center funded by the Garden Club. Science Night at Lincoln Center. Students experienced a hands-on fossil dig where they were able to sift sand to find planted fossils. We apologize for any possible errors or omissions in the listings.
