Superbad is a four piece party band with a list of influences as long
as the 5pm traffic line and a sound that rocks harder than your
grandma's rocker during Matlock! They have only one objective in
mind; to give you the greatest, most rockin performance that will
have you raising your beers in the air and screaming for more!
This four piece starts their lineup with the solid pounding rhythms of
Jesse Williams on drums, followed up by the infectious grooves of
Mark Dirr on bass and vocals. Screaming out of left field is Chris
Newnam wailing on lead guitar, and rounding out the guitar section
and manning lead vocals is Steve Dirr.
If you haven't caught on to the new rage hitting every club and bar
in Cincinnati, then it's time to come see Superbad. Grab a beer and
get out on the dance floor!
Hailing from
Cincinnati, Mark
Dirr originally
played guitar in
the late 80’s early
90’s for the thrash
metal band Audix
Mors. Playing all
original music for
the first 5 years of his music career,
Mark never really got into the “cover
band” scene until he was asked to help
form the band “Superbad.”
After his military career ended he
played in various bands with friends just
having fun and playing parties. He
started playing acoustic shows with
Steve Dirr and was informed one day
that a show was booked for a full band.
In less than 30 days we formed
Superbad, learned the music, and got
rolling.
Chris Newman is
the current Lead
Guitarist & newest
addition to the
Superbad family.
Chris started
playing over 28
years ago, & had
been playing the
local club scene for 24 years.
Previous bands include Cold Steele,
Milkfish, Mindriot, Sneaky Pete, Hellcat
Alley, Tell Tale Heart, & Seronode.
He has been playing both cover music &
originals with 3 albums under his belt .
All of his gear is industry standard & he
has the ability to cover a wide variety of
genres.
While being raised on arena rock, Chris
is dedicated to giving an entertaining
show!
Steve Dirr, a
Cincinnati native,
started his musical
journey at the
tender age of 9. By
the time he was
15, Steve was in a
house band
playing weekly
shows at the Bootleg Saloon while still
in high school. At the age of 16 Steve
started the group “Second 2 Last”, and
landed a weekly spot at Cincinnati’s
notorious Blue Note. From that point it
was an uphill career.
Steve joined
“Rockshot Records” and recorded his
album “Who We Are, And Who We Are
Really” which would mark his third
studio album. In 2008 “Superbad” was
formed with the help of their bassist
Mark Dirr, of which Steve is currently
the lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist. For a
short while Steve had a break from
Superbad to seek a music career in
California with nothing more than a bag
full of clothes, a guitar, and PA. After
bad luck in Cali, Steve moved back to
Cincinnati where he would join back up
with Superbad and become one of
Cincy’s hottest bands. At the same time
“Black Shirt Cargo” was formed to
showcase Superbad’s original music.
Currently
Superbad is rockin shows 4-6 times a
month, while Steve is also playing
acoustic shows 2-3 days a week at
venues all around the tri-state area.
“It’s not about the
money. It’s not about becoming famous.
All that matters is when we get on
stage, we are nothing but ourselves.
Speaking of the
Drummer
Jesse Merlin
Williams, a
resident of the
Cincinnati area has
a passion for not
only Drums and
percussion but
sound in general.
Mr. Williams began his music endeavors
at the age of seven and went on to play
for both his elementary and high school
bands. It was during this time that Jesse
began to play for various local groups
experimenting in not only varied styles
of Jazz but Metal, Rock, Funk, And
Progressive.
The next logical step was then to seek
out a degree which would aid in his
musical abilities. Jesse Williams
currently attends college and majors in
the field of Audio Video Engineering.
This has led him to compose music and
aid in sound design for local film
companies.
Bands
Drums and Percussion: SuperBad, Black
Shirt Cargo, Pariah, The Love Thrill
Murders,
Finiifi, The Alkaloids.
Film and Sound Design Credits: Day of
the Jagged Dead, A shift Of Soldiers TBR.
