Many studies show that assisted suicide requests are almost always for such psychological or social reasons.” Right to Life will have the baby dresser in the back of Church from May 27 through June 5 for the Pregnancy Care Center in Lawrenceburg. Badly needed are diapers, sizes 5 & 6, and cans of Gerber Good Start Gentle Formula. Of course, money donations can always be put to good use. Thank you for helping them in this endeavor. Care Net Pregnancy Services of Northern Kentucky will be hosting volunteer training for three consecutive weeks beginning June 6, 10 a.m.–12 p.m. at its Cold Spring location. Contact Lyndi Soden at 431-9178 or e-mail lyndi@carenetnky.org. Dear Parish: Thanks for all the prayers, support, love, card and special masses in Jerry {Harrison}’s memory. I will always remember your kindness. -- Phyllis Harrison Weekend of June 4/5, 2016 Saint Paul begins today’s second reading by stating that he was “called” to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As baptized Catholics who have an opportunity to share in Christ’s life through the Eucharist regularly, we too are called to proclaim the teachings of Christ. We are stewards of Christ’s Gospel. But how are we responding to that call? Do we listen for the guidance of the Holy Spirit? Do we evade, dodge or ignore the Lord’s call? Do we attempt to proclaim the Gospel in a spirit of compassion and Love? Reflect on how you execise stewardship over the Gospel. We’ve all experienced it. A Facebook post, a family dinner, a water cooler conversaton that suddenly turns political with opposing viewpoints. You might get angry. You may go silent. Civilize It is about making room in your heart and speaking peacefully with those with whom you disagree. Imagine what would happen if aggressiveness were transformed into openness and confrontations were turned into thoughtful conversations. Civilize It is a non-partisan movement and a call for all of us to help change the tone, follow our faith, and quiet the quarrels in our day-to-day lives. I Pledge: 1. Civility – To reflect, respect, to not throw stones, and to rise above it. 2. Clarity – To align my political point of view with my formed conscience. 3. Compassion – To encounter others with a tone and posture that say “I see dignity and goodness in you.” The Church is non-partisan, so it does not endorse political parties or candidates. However, ti does appeal to our consciences by speaking very clearly on the issues. Take some time shaping your own conscience by exploring the teaching of the church.
