Pioneer of environmental protection as early as 1975, KREMLIN REXSON has been developing technology capable of combining quality of spraying and productivity, altogether with a very high transfer efficiency, to achieve a minimal overspray. Moreover, the protection and comfort of the operator have always been major concerns of our teams. Very present at its inception on the wood market, AIRMIX® progressively proved itself in markets as demanding as Railways, Aeronautics or Rolling equipment. Well ahead regarding respect for the environment, AIRMIX® now imposes itself naturally on green markets like that of windmills, by considerably reducing their grey energy levels on application of paints, thanks to a very high transfer efficiency and a remarkable application quality. Others technologies Transfer Efficiency Particle speed Air consumption AIRMIX® 0% AIRMIX 0 100% 86% Others technologies ® O.7m/s AIRMIX® 10m/s Others technologies 0 30m³/h 3m³/h with AIRMIX ® The additional air is injected before the locus of atomization, it results in a very stable fan and a perfectly even build on all sorts of parts to be sprayed. without AIRMIX ® With the other medium pressure systems, the additional air is injected into or beyond the locus of atomization, which leads to turbulent air flows, more overspray and less finish quality. MIX® AI 1975 ED R E R Various generations of the KREMLIN REXSON AIRMIX® gun honor this philosophy. The MR, MRX, MX and the MVX each contributed to the development of this brand in its different global markets. R GISTE Xcite TM AIRMIX® GUN 4 characteristics of spraying technologies The Benefits Of AIRMIX ® ® Airmix has become a standard in the industry by providing better atomization, low paint particle velocities, low air consumption and extremely high transfer efficiencies. ® Airmix - Superior to conventional, low pressure, and airless spraying. Paint Velocity - Reduces booth maintenance The paint velocity has a direct impact on performance: the higher the velocity, the greater the amount of overspray and bounceback, which combine to quickly pollute the booth. As can be seen from the graph on the right, the particle speed with Airmix is much lower than with all other systems. ® Slow AIRMIX® Air-Assisted Airless Airless HVLP Fast Conventional Transfer Efficiency - Saves on paint costs Users of Airmix achieve the highest transfer efficiency available. Efficiencies on different types of manual spray equipment are: Low Conventional Airless ® HVLP Air-Assisted Airless AIRMIX® Electrostatic AIRMIX® Air Consumption - Lower energy costs Airmix uses less air for atomization air than any other high quality spray system. Airmix works well with smaller air compressors, lower production air pressure and lower compressed air volumes. This generates major savings in compressed air cost and reduces air compressor maintenance. ® ® High Low AIRMIX® Air-Assisted Airless Airless Conventional HVLP Fine Atomization - Excellent finish Airmix uses a specially designed aircap to provide a smooth and even finish every time. The aircap helps to evenly atomize the paint as it leaves the fluid tip. This even atomization allows the paint to be broken down into smaller particles which provides the best coat with minimal defects or orange peel. High HVLP ® Airless Air-Assisted Airless AIRMIX® 5 AIRMIX® spraying with fan adjustment Principle AIRMIX ® (1) was designed to create a new spraying technology which combines the advantages of the conventional and AIRLESS spraying technologies. In order to do this, AIRMIX® associates middle pressure spraying and an indirect addition of atomization air (at a very low pressure), which leads to outstanding fan control. The outcome of this association is a supercharge of air at the locus of atomization, right after the outflow from the tip, which results in a perfectly controlled and adjustable fan. (1) AIRMIX® is a registered trademark of KREMLIN. New AIRMIX® spraying The new AIRMIX® spraying technology optimizes even more the advantages of conventional and AIRLESS spraying. with AIRMIX® The additional air is injected before the locus of atomization, it results in a very stable fan and a perfectly even build on all sorts of parts to be sprayed. without AIRMIX® With the other medium pressure systems, the additional air is injected into or beyond the locus of atomization, which leads to turbulent air flows, more overspray and less finish quality. The equipment The AIRMIX® range is designed for manual, automatic and electrostatic spraying. The use of AIRMIX® systems is optimized in a pressure range between 30 and 200 bar, which implies the use of pumps with a pressure ratio between 8 and 40. Cold Airmix® A standard AIRMIX® equipment consists of a pump, a gun and two hoses. The pump is equipped with a suction rod, that is suitable for any container The gun is connected up to the pump by two hoses: • a small diameter, flexible, solventresistant fluid hose, • an antistatic rubber air hose for the atomization air. 6 Hot Airmix® KREMLIN, creator of the AIRMIX® technology launches its next generation AIRMIX® guns, which eliminate more than 80 % of overspray, reduce coating consumption by up to 50 % and offer an outstanding spraying quality. The new AIRMIX® concept was developed, bearing customers needs in mind, bringing many new benefits to the end-user. In addition to the exceptional adaptability offered by the fan adjustment system, KREMLIN has taken particular care over the ergonomics of the new MVX: a user-friendly grip on the handle, a light weight gun, a more flexible trigger, better visual control on your application. The MVX features a fan adjusting system to keep the same powerful and unsurpassed atomization quality whatever the shape of the part to be painted. 86% TRANSFE R EFFICIENCY ! The advantages of AIRMIX Outstanding finish quality Paint savings by 35% and more Higher efficiency of application for higher productivity Reduced overspray and particles rebounds Reduced spray booth maintenance Reduced solvents emission Outstanding working conditions A wide range of products adaptable to production needs Quick payback Products rec o mmended ® Solvent or water-based products Varnishes Lacquers Polyurethanes Two-component products High solids Stains UV-curing Feeding pumps The MVX gun can be fed by various pumps from the KREMLIN range 10.14/10.14S 20.15 17.A2 FLOWMAX® PU 2160F CYCLOMIXtm MULTI 7 Hot spraying Hot spraying The advantages of hot paint spraying Regularity of efficiency Better finish quality Solvent savings Reduction of the rejects due to dirt Reduction of the risk of runs Faster preparation Viscosity Principle By raising the temperature of a fluid, you reduce its viscosity: for instance, heating paint up to 60° or 80° C will have the same result as using solvent. Hot paint spraying is also a good solution to maintain paints at a regular temperature, preserving them from the variations of temperature in a workshop all and every day. Temperature Diagram 1 Apply more paint per pass As the discharged paint exits the gun, two factors raise the viscosity of the paints. The accelerated evaporation of the hot solvents and the cooling of the resin. The net effect is the ability to apply more paint per pass without runs. KREMLIN’s advice The speed of circulation is usually adjusted to renew the content of each hose section every 30 seconds. Given a hose with a diameter of 10mm : Its internal volume is about 80 cm3 per metre. Now, if we use a pump having a capacity of 20 cm3, we will have to operate valve on 7 or 9 to obtain a rhythm of the pump of four strokes every 30 seconds, that is to say eight strokes per minute. 8 Cold paint is discharged into the heater (4) under the action of pressure. It is instantly warmed to the selected heat and reaches the spray gun (3) after passing through the filter (8) at a similar temperature. Example 1 Configuration with One-Pass hot spraying Under pressure, the heated paint goes back to the suction valve through the Y-fitting (5) and the fluid hose (6), which leads to the continuous circulation of the heated paint throughout the installation. This circulation process can be controlled by operating the circulation valve (7) or the back pressure regulator (9). However, using circulation too intensively is useless and might also damage the packings ensuring the pump tightness. Do not forget that their lifespan is based on the total volume of paint that has circulated throughout the pump. It is always the same volume of paint, inside the hoses, that is heated. The paint in the container (2) remains cold. Hot spraying Process Example 2 Configuration with HP, BD and AD hot spraying As soon as the operator presses the trigger of the gun, hot paint flows out from the tip, which increases the flow rate: the pump (1) automatically sucks an equivalent unit of cold paint to be heated. But the temperature on the level of the gun remains unchanged since this unit of paint is instantly heated while passing through the heater (4). Whether the operator uses the system or not, it will ensure the delivery of hot paint to the gun. Examples of hot paint application 1. Thick coating material - 2. Medium diluted paint 3. Medium diluted paint Hot spraying between 60°C (140°F) and 70° C (158°F) Hot spraying between 60°C (140°F) and 70° C (158°F) Hot spraying between 30°C (86°F) and 40° C (104°F) It makes it possible to spray paint without diluting it. It cools as soon as it leaves the gun and regain it original thicker consistency when deposited. Paint becomes extremely fluid. The viscosity of the paint is slightly reduced. Only one pass is necessary, even when you apply thicker materials, which implies: lesser risk of runs - a glossier film - a less porous covering - no dilution costs - less pollution due to the use of solvents - greater facility to keep the film dust free - the ideal system to use when the operator lacks experience. Therefore it can be sprayed at very low pressure. Besides, a major part of the solvents evaporates as the paint leaves the gun: its viscosity increases when it is deposited on the part at ambient temperature. Less overspray - less loss of paint- lesser risk of runs - greater facility to keep the film dust-free - improved healthiness in the workshop - better temperature regulation - greater security of application. A lesser quantity of the solvents evaporates. Paint begins to cool as it leaves the gun. There is more security with this sort of application, because the temperature of the heated paint remains unchanged whatever the time in the day or the season may be - Keeping the film dust-free is also highly facilitated. 9 Xcite TM STRENGTHES New AIRMIX® aircap for superior finish quality The following materials may be sprayed with the new Xcite™ Airmix® gun Precise large fan width adjustment Choice of Fine or Xtra™ Fine Finish series tip Ultralight and comfortable trigger Ergonomic design for comfort fit and feel Stainless steel fluid passage Swivel fitting for improved maneuverability A complete Airmix® package A great Airmix® gun requires additional equipment working together to deliver exceptional performance that our customers expect.
