The hotel has been informed of dietary/religious restrictions and will serve food accordingly. No pork or alcohol will be used and meat is halal. Lunches will be eaten with your ski instructor at a café or restaurant on the mountain or in the resort. We are travelling to a foreign country and as part of the experience we will be eating delicious local food. Meals will be simple, yet wholesome and tasty. It is important to eat well whilst on a ski holiday, as you will burn a lot of energy during the day. Use of mobile phones Whilst away, part of the fun is spending time with friends and those we may not normally spend time with. Mobile phone usage during the trip should be kept to a minimum. Although we strongly recommend that students carry phones whilst out on the mountains in case of an emergency, usage at any time should be limited and discreet. Any phones brought on the trip are at the student’s own risk. Minimising contact with your child fosters a sense of independence and avoids creating feelings of homesickness. Experience has shown that frequent contacts between parents and their children is often a cause of homesickness and not a solution to it. If we need to contact you for any reason, please rest assured that we will do so. Accommodation contact details: Hotel Splendid, Via Paganella nr. 18, 38010, Andalo (Trento) Telephone number: +39 461 585777 (for emergency use ONLY) Sarah Newton: +20 122 790 9837 Money You will need money for: •Lunches •Drinks and snacks •Souvenirs / miscellaneous extras Please bring Euros if possible. Euros, sterling or dollars can be exchanged on arrival at Milan airport if necessary. Prices in ski resorts are generally high. For lunches, we would recommend approximately 10-15 Euros per day. We recommend a total amount of approx 100-150 Euros Please bring a sensible amount. The staff cannot be held responsible for any loss of money during the week. However we will offer a banking system for students during the week. Passports Your passport must be handed in to your group leader once you have cleared immigration in Milan. It will be locked in the safe at the hotel for the week and it will be handed back on the return journey. NB If your child does not have an Egyptian residency stamp in their passport, please ensure that they have USD 15 or 10 GBP to pay for a visa on arrival. Behaviour and expectations Everyone hopes to have an enjoyable trip. Remember you're a guest in another country, and it will be different from being in Egypt. The teachers are fully responsible for you and your actions, so you are expected to behave impeccably at all times. Should you break the rules explained to you before the trip, then you will have to face the consequences. This may include, but is not limited to being removed from skiing for a session or a day. Whilst away you are constantly representing yourself, your school and your country. Remember what people see and hear will be their impression of you. Do not cause hurt or offence to anyone. We expect pupils to behave in a safe and responsible way, in line with school expectations, listening to the teachers and following instructions at all times. Poor behaviour of any kind will not be accepted. There will be zero tolerance of alcohol and cigarette consumption during the trip. In the hotel •Respect the hotel rules and be polite to everyone •Do not run around the hotel and respect lights out time •Skiing/snowboarding is tiring - be considerate and quiet in and around the hotel, particularly later in the evening In the resort •If you wish to go out, please inform a member of staff where you are going and how long you will be •Never go out in the resort on your own (minimum in pairs, preferably three or more) Valuables •Valuables can be brought along at your own risk. Moderate your speed and behaviour. •All ski runs (pistes) are graded in terms of difficulty. Each piste has coloured markers down both sides to show the grade and boundaries of the run. Always pay attention to any markers and signposts.
